PORTLAND, Nov. 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- Not only is nuclear and biological disaster more feasible now than ever before, the NBC and CBS hit fall television shows "Jericho" and "Heroes" have raised the issue of civilians trying to survive an American Hiroshima, which intelligence experts warn is inevitable.

According to 1 Timothy 5:8, an adult that doesn't provide for their relatives -- especially their immediate family -- has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. Remember Joseph saving Egypt? We should follow the Bible and set aside what long-term storage food and water we can. This seems to contradict the message of these survivalist "christains" who recommend hoarding food. I apologize to DUers for being so religious, but I like to point out that these "christians" may be manipulating the Bible to advance the Republican party. What about "In God we trust?" I guess they beleive in trusting but hoarding.

War tends to be rather random so how will a mountain of food in our underground panic rooms save us? We truly are at the mercy of God, nature and other people.

5. I've been watching Jericho and they're raising a lot of good issues

I think that being in such a situation would definitely show what people are made of; which people have real leadership and concern for a community and which only care about themselves.

The fundamentalist Christians overemphasize the nuclear family to the point where they ignore the extended family and community at large- they are the last people I'd want to survive with because I would expect them to be totally selfish.
