This isn't a joke.

It isn't a toy plane either.

http://money.cnn.com/2006/10/24/news/companies/sams_club/index.htm

Apparently, the Sam's Club division of Wal-Mart bought a spot on the waiting list for a $2.7 million Cessna Citation Mustang jet airplane. By yours from Wal-Mart and jump past the year-long waiting list to get yours NOW!

Even if you LIKED Wal-Mart and you had $2.7 million burning a hole in your pocket, I don't think you would buy an airplane from them.

1. I'd care more about who manufactured it
But it's sorta odd.

6. That's a fine airplane, I often fly a Citation. But this is a gimmick,
anybody who wants one of these will buy it directly from Cessna or one of the few certified dealers.

:D

15. What they're really selling is a way to jump ahead of the line
If you buy it from Wal-Mart (or, actually, Sam's Club) you get to take delivery in 2007 instead of 2008.

Oh yeah: you get a lifetime membership to Sam's Club, too.

Something tells me that if you were going to buy a Citation, you'd want support from the dealer who sold it to you because jet airplanes need a lot of it--and you're almost guaranteed to get a bit of a cold shoulder if you bought the plane from someone else.

16. Yeah, I sorta figured that...but every one is different, they're pretty much
custom-built to customer specs...but I guess the lead time wouldn't be that long if they got moved to the front of the line. You might be surprised how little maintenance they really do require, though,
and there are plenty of independent facilities who are happy to work on them regardless of where they were bought. ;-)

7. I wont buy anything with moving parts from wal-mart
even there simple electronics are different, cheaper versions of what you could buy in another store. that is why they are cheaper. I doubt if they last as long.

11. It might be hard to maneuver out of the store
but at least the greeters would have a tough time checking your receipt. Might have to get one of those rolling stairs to scan it in at the checkstand.
