Tom Delay - give me some insight...
into his current situation. Will he be convicted? Jail?

I am in a debate where the claims that the prosecutor is liberal/Democrat, he didn't really do anything, blah , blah..

give me some ammo fellow DU'ers.

1. I believe that the prosecutor has a history of charging (and winning)
corruption charges against corrupt politicians - and that he has gone after (and succeeded) many more democratic office holders than he has republican office holders.

2. Lampson Did Win Didn't He??
While watching C-Span this AM I heard something said about the woman who ran against him. But it sounded like she won. I just caught the tail end and I haven't checked C-Span site to see if the Journal has been posted for review yet.

I did check his web site and he said he was looking forward to working in D.C. and I thought I heard he did win. I need to find out what was said on C-Span for sure.

3. I just got this straight, last night. There were two simultaneous elections
the first an 'emergency' (or some such term for it) election for the remaining 2 months of DeLay's term, and the second = the real election. Lampson only ran in the real election (the second one) - so the lady "won" - for the lame duck session only. Heard that most of the holdover staff from DeLay walked out on her - due to alleged 'poor treatment' (in the course of only a couple of days). Drama, drama....

4. The State Charges Are Ironclad
It is a measure of this unctuous pimp's arrogance that he didn't bother to hide very well his transfer of corporate funds from Texas to the RNC in Washington and then back to Texas candidates - a clear violation of Texas law. Hopefully, with the adults back in charge of Congress, the DOJ will see the light and file Federal money laundering charges against him as well - again, the paperwork makes it clear that he sought to illegally conceal the origin of the funds he was sending to Texas in order to help gerrymander Texas to insure GOP dominance.
