My "Nader" thread was deleted;
or at least I suppose it was because I said that "Nader was right" (which he was, of course, in that both big parties are bought and paid for, and therein lies the problem), but more importantly I was trying to make the point that most observant people knew that Bush would be appointing a couple of SC justices, and the fact that this guy is a right-winger should be absolutely no surprise.

People are so upset about Nader that they often forget that true progressivism is found more and more outside the Democratic Party.

13. Nah... it wasn't a Nader thread anyway. It was sort of a fatalistic one,
that simply asked people to acknowledge that the Big Tent is a raggedy thing, easily pricked and torn by a focused fear-mongering force of funamentalists and Neo-cons. The only hope for the Democratic Party is a strong, progressive voice; where the hell is it?

2. I really wish more people would throw themselves into election reform.
It's as good a place as any to channel rage and frustration over the junta's actions.

------------------------------------------------------
How about some freakin’ election reform already?!

3. Except Nader was obviously wrong
When he said that the Supreme Court wouldn't depend on who won the Presidency.
Is Nader going to claim that Gore or Kerry would have nominated Alito?

9. The Dems voted to confirm Justice Scalia
The Senate vote was 98 to zero. Ted Kennedy voted to confirm Scalia. Many Dems also voted in favor of Justice Thomas. LOL. I remember it well.

5. I'm not personally depressed or anything
I agree with you about Nader. I'm not surprised the Senate Dems didn't vote our way, just as a Naderite would have predicted, so I'm not depressed about today's travesty. This is nothing new.

And do you agree that Kerry and Bush are the same? After what Kerry just tried to do, I don't see how you could.

11. Are you sure it was deleted, or did it just sink like a stone?
I don't care what that tired old asshole millionaire with a 'piss in the cheerios' complex thinks. He can take his nasty suits and ugly ass shoes and leave the public stage, for all I care. Nader is a fringe KOOK, who will never get more than a percent or two of the vote, from fools who like to throw their vote away with a lame idea that they are making a difference, when all they are doing is marginalizing their own importance, and providing a great opportunity for GOP vote tampering to occur.

He is IRRELEVANT. And he always will be, the silly old coot. His time came and went. He could have made a difference by throwing his weight behind the critical mass, and working for change from within, but instead, he preferred to crap in the punch. Way to go, Ralphie! Ya putz!

25. I'm not trying to absolve Nader of anything. I simply stated that his
assertion that both parties are beholden to big interests was true. Christ, all the whining and defeatism elsewhere on this board dwarfs the simple point I was making, but Nader is evidently a REALLY sore subject around here still.

30. Yeah, that's only mostly wrong.
But I'm sure that someone will argue that Nader had to stop Gore to prevent Lieberman, and tell me how silly it is that Nader should help Gore to prevent Bush.

I mean, here we are looking at what happens when one loses elections, and some still won't get it.

26. Of course they are.
Not because they were right, but because they are thrilled to see democrats lose to republicans so that they can pretend to be the only alternatives.

It's hardly a secret that the nader fans and third party members want things to get a lot worse, on the concept that at that time there will be a realignment and the dems will be left out. They worked to make things worse in 2000, and they are seeing the fruit. It's all good for them.

Nader sold out, took money from the right, and let them run his anti-Gore ads.

Screw him and screw his advocates.

The other GD Forum is for "Everything Else", even posts about Nader. Hence the title of the forum. Had you posted it there you may not have had it deleted. Just a thought.

31. That's the funny part. The post wasn't about Nader.
It simply advised people to Relax, the Plan is working. Fascism is coming, and as long as a majority of Democrats in the Senate are willing to go along, we have only one party.

Many Dems stood up today, and neither Pres Gore or Pres Kerry would have nominated a Sam Alito. So Please, enough with samesame bullshit.
