4. Laws like this were pretty common
in the 70s - my understanding is that they were drafted to get rid of hippie communes.

Hmm...that law in East Cleveland was still being used to deny school registration to children in GLBT families in the mid to late 80s. It's been a while since I looked at the case but I think the unconstitutionality had to do with barring folks with legally recognized family relationships from living together, but it was still OK as long as there was no legally recognized relationship.
