Where can I find a capsule DU history?
Did the website exist before 2002? I seem to remember discussions on here before then. In fact, I have a pre-9/11 screenshot.

4. I wish I knew where it was
but right after the recent Truthout flame wars, or just about when he returned to DU, Will Pitt wrote a post in a thread which would tell you what you want to know.

I can't remember much more than that, sorry.

6. Do you have six hours?
Can I type this much? Okay, Cliff's Notes version:

Fitzmas didn't come this year. Jason Leopold, a Truthout contributor, published an article based on his sources' information claiming that Karl Rove would be indicted imminently -- within 24 hours.

As you can imagine, joyful celebrating ensued, and other members ran around dispelling this as false, claiming Jason was a charlatan, and flame wars ensued. As with most hot button topics at DU, camps formed and it was ugly.

Of course, as you know, Rove was not indicted. This, like other moments of massive in-fighting (see: Bev Harris and Wayne Madsen) was one of the moments DU was at its most volatile.
