I agree with Cindy Sheehan
I agree with Cindy Sheehan. Do what she asks, start impeachment proceedings against Bush, Rumsfeld, Gonzalez and others, for my son, Nick Berg, too. Do it because the Bush Administration lied to the American People and though many of us recognized his threats and reasons for going to war as lies, Congress of both parties and my own son, Nick, did not.

Do it because this war based on lies destabilized I raq, left a power vacuum, and that vacuum was filled by Al-Quada who might be responsible for Nick's death.

Do it because George Bush ordered Alberto Gonzalez to rewrite the definitions of torture that allowed unhuman behavior in the Abu Graib Prison, because he gave the word to Donald Rumsfeld who gave the wink and the nod on down the line of the chain of command until even worse than legalized torture, rape and murder, was committed in that place.

Do it because with the arrogance of no previous adminitstration the Bush administration has trampled over the rights of Americans. Because as Commander in Chief he established the atmosphere that said: "Anything goes," and along with anything went my Nick's rights to due process and thirteen crucial days of his life spent in a US Military prison in Mosul Iraq.

Do it because those thirteen days (March 24 until April 6) thrust Nick into an Iraq heated by a new found hetred of Americans due to the revelations of those atrocities committed in the Abu Graib Prison. This new found hatred made almost every Iraqi a willing part of the resistance against us. And then just your everyday Iraqi's entered the bus Nick was taking trying to get home, and took him off. He was held captive, and traded up the line until he fell into the hands of those who so brutally murdered him on May 7 or 8, 2004, and who posted a videotape of that brutality on the internet on May 11, 2004.

Yes, I hold George Bush accountable as well as the people who killed him. George Bush who never once sent a word to me or my family. George Bush who only used my son's death to further justify his unjustifiable war. George Bush who tried and executed my son's supposed killer Abu Masab al Zirqawi with his orders to bomb Zirqawi's expected location. George Bush who has now deprived me of ever knowing who really killed my son.

For all of these reasons and that you know it is the right thing to do, IMPEACH GEORGE BUSH.

Yours in Peace,

Michael S. Berg
Father of Nick Berg, April 2, 1978 - May 7, 2004 Died near Fallujiah, Iraq.

1. I'll make Michael Berg and Cindy Sheehan a deal
If they can find the 17 Republican votes in the Senate needed for a conviction (and that is based on an assumption that Lieberman will not vote with the party to convict), then the hearings can be started. Otherwise it is a waste of time that will do nothing other than make a few people feel all nice inside.

2. If the House investigates and finds the evidence the Senate will have no other choice!
But to convict him! Everybody says it wont work but unveil the evidence with held from the news papers, like the Downing Street Memos and it will be a Slam Dunk!

October 17, 2006,Will be remembered as the Enabling day of the 21st Century!
"The government will make use of these powers only insofar as they are essential for carrying out vitally necessary measures..."

7. Very Untrue
There is nothing that says the Republican Senators will have to convict even if there is irrefutable evidence. You show me where it says that in the U.S. Constitution and I'll agree with you. Otherwise, impeachment isn't going to happen without the votes.

9. Supporting impeachment...
...is not a path to feeling "all nice inside." Particularly not for Cindy Sheehan and Michael Berg, who have lost their sons in an illegal war.

It is never a waste of time to bring charges against criminals. There were a lot of trials in the South during the Civil Rights Movement where an accused white person was acquitted of a crime they obviously committed. All those injustices were pieces of a larger quilt which eventually became whole cloth and brought the light of day into a dark corner of our national history.

We should impeach because it is the moral and ethical and legal thing to do, not because we're sure of a win in advance. Part of the "win" is beginning the process.

10. It's the thought that counts. And let's be frank. bushCo* has completely redefined
corruption and incompetence. If there was ever an impeachment vote that made it to the Senate,--which I doubt one would-- Senators probably wouldn't have to explain a vote to convict, they'd have to explain one not to convict.

And yes, we need to start the investigation process. Start with Iraq. The rest will fall into place. 9/11, Katrina, Election 2004...so many potential scandals, so little time. Start investigating immediately. We need to find out how we got to this point and how bad the damage is.

4. It is political suicide to protect Bush. They saw all the Tuesday nite
concession speeches made by their colleagues.

Their jobs are on the line, they might want to do the
right thing this time.

5. I agree with you and Cindy , it is time to impeach.
Your son and his mission to bring help to the Iraqi people is one of the bravest stories that I do remember about this nightmare.

6. Yes I agree too
It is time to impeach Bush and Cheney. What more do they need to do to convince the American public they need to go? These men have no conscience. How many more of our troops need to die?
