and I would hope that the Democrats and independents now know is character from the last six years, though they should have known it before when he voted against making Martin Luther King day a national holiday, and his involvment with keating and the S&L scandal

The next two years the Democrats in Congress will demonstrate why WE ARE THE PARTY who deserves the people's support

We have been given an extrodinary opportunity, and one last chance to save the republic

4. That is what they are pushing, but I agree it isn't going to be Hillary
Maybe Clark, Gore, Feingold, the Govenor of Iowa, or even Edwards

6. It is funny, they think mccain is too liberal, when in fact he is a full-fledged
neo-con conservative

13. I thought the same thing. I am concerned about a Guilliani run, though
I do think that his position on gays, and woman's rights, etc. are going to work against him with the right wing in his party, along with his lack of international experience

23. I agree about Guilliani
I agree about Guilliani running who might be tough (but not impossible) to beat. I'm not sure if his lack of international experience would hurt him...the right wing elected Georgie and he had no international expierence.

5. I have a friend who bleeds Republican
and he says he will never vote for McCain. He said he would write in somebody's name rather than vote for him. He cannot even bring himself to hold his nose and vote for McCain.

20. McCain-Feingold opened a lot of eyes...
As did his comment about our "so-called First Amendment rights".

16. I don't think they would vote
Personally I don't think she will run either. She is too smart of a person, and realizes that she generates too much controversy at this time. Of course that may change in two years, but I think other candidates will step up to the plate

21. Agreed. We need new blood. Americans are tired of the bushes
and the Clintons. Time to go somewhere else for leaders. I do think she would be good at the job because she is so smart but there is way too much baggage there.

14. yea still
my exact point with the first response in this thread-who IS MSNBC talking to anyway, making them think she's the front runner? All anybody has to do is take a gander round here for a day or two-of course they'd label us the lunatic fringe element-which we aren't we're the BIG TENT BABY

17. The media was wrong about this election, they were wrong about the Iraq war
and I believe they are wrong about the economy, even though they try to say everything is great

I don't think they have a very good track record

28. I would pragmatically vote for Hillary, but not with joy and delight.
My hope is that Hillary has a long and successful career as a powerful Senator from New York.

24. McCain is melting.
If he stays on his current course, he will look like a cross between Truman Capote and the Cryptkeeper. Leave aside the Bush hug and birthday cake pictures. You still have a guy who will be beyond the reach of current lighting and make-up technology in a year or two.

27. McCain is a self-serving opportunist
even for a politician. His open support for Bush in 2004 and his new pro-torture stance tells you that his principles are up for sale (buying Bush support for '08 run?), and his recently-found neo-conservatism on foreign policy is an interesting one considering that ideological dead horse has been thoroughly flogged by the electorate.

If McCain wins the GOP nomination and I'm not sure he can, he would likely be soundly defeated by any good campaigning Democratic candidate. This is a stark contrast to 2000, where I feel McCain would have won the popular vote against Gore had he won the GOP nomination.
