Ms. Wood has collected a number of testimonies from Iraq War veterans for her new oral history of the Iraq War. Bobby Muller, founder of Vietnam Veterans of America, makes opening remarks. Since the early 1990s, author Maxine Hong Kingston has run a workshop for war veterans, their families, and others affected by war in an effort to help them use writing to deal with the trauma associated with extreme violence. Recently she published a collection of pieces by these workshop participants in a book titled Veterans of War, Veterans of Peace. During this event, Ms. Kingston is joined by nine contributors to the book who read excerpts from their work and talk about their experiences. (Saturday 2:15 PM ET)
