If Bush is under investigation for breaking the law would that make the
Alito Nomination somehow illegal or unconstitutional or something?

If a police officer is a suspect in an investigation they have to turn over their gun and go to office work until they are cleared.

I'm just brain storming here.

1. Yeah! Brad from BradBlog just brought that up on the YT's Filibuster show
We should put a moratorium on any nominations till we find out if what * did was illegal and if he's going to be impeached...

3. I've been screaming that for months now!
WTF gives this rat bastard the right to appoint a judge to the SCOTUS? After all of the impeachable offenses that he has committed...

Geez......

Peace.

because Bush is illegitimate.

Frankly, Clarence Thomas is illegitimate - just because he's an *hole.

13. K&R
This is precisely the reason they are clamoring for Alito to get this confirmation. He is going to exonerate Bush and cabal. Remember that very weird tangent Lindsey G went off on during the Judicial Committee questioning, he was excusing Alito for his CAP membership because people get accused of affiliations incorrectly all the time. He was speaking specifically about Abramoff it was obvious and telling because basically he was telling Alito what his role was going to be once they shoved him on the court. Chief Exonerator. These pig fuckers MUST be stopped.

15. Yes And A Reference To Photos Being Taken That Mean Nothing
Funny that, hm-mm, photos, hm-mm, isn't that sort of the quandary that Boosh finds himself in today? Photos of he and Abramoff on the market? But remember Alito those photos mean SQUAT!

I nearly fell out of my chair when that interchange happened. BTW you and I are in the same time zone, I enjoy your post and welcome to DU. You are a fast typist! I am an American ex-pat as well. Living in Sicily and man has the weather been AWFUL. I slept none last night it was sooooo windy!

I always enjoy your straight-forward and frank posts, too. You don't pull any punches. ;)

Yes, I'm an expat in Paris, observing in utter disbelief what's become of the country I grew up in!

Is your family part of the military--or are you corporate transplants?

How's your Marine son doing? Ben, I think it is? SG

:pals: :hi:

edit/ You know, watching that exchange between Graham & Alito, it occured to me that what he said was plain illegal: judicial tampering & influence peddling. I'll scratch your back if you'll make sure to scratch mine once you're on the bench.

20. My Partner Works For ST Micro Here In Catania
We left the States in April 2002 when our daughter was 11 months old. We had HAD it! We lived in the ME for 2 years and Sicily for almost 2 years. Ben is healing up nicely, I hope to God they are not planning on sending him for another tour, he is at 29 Palms in CA now. I know what you mean about that exchange I was gob smacked at its blatant illegality. Yet NOTHING was EVER reported about it.

heart-breaker! What a little beauty.

I've been in Paris for over 20 years & finally decided to become a nationalized French citizen 5 or so yrs. ago. Have dual nationality.

Teach English as a second language and cross-cultural negotiation.

Glad Ben's healing, but do whatever you must to keep him from going back to that hell on earth. :scared: SG

short and simple answer: The Alito nomination sucks, but there is nothing illegal or unconstitutional about it. That would be the case even if there was an actual ongoing formal impeachment proceeding, which as we all know, isn't the case.

26. It sure as hell SHOULD be illegal
and they are all ignoring the constitution.

If someone kills someone(or say 100,000) you don't let them continue to do it until it is proven in court.

There must be something we can do here?!
