This is precisely the reason they are clamoring for Alito to get this confirmation. He is going to exonerate Bush and cabal. Remember that very weird tangent Lindsey G went off on during the Judicial Committee questioning, he was excusing Alito for his CAP membership because people get accused of affiliations incorrectly all the time. He was speaking specifically about Abramoff it was obvious and telling because basically he was telling Alito what his role was going to be once they shoved him on the court. Chief Exonerator. short and simple answer: The Alito nomination sucks, but there is nothing illegal or unconstitutional about it. That would be the case even if there was an actual ongoing formal impeachment proceeding, which as we all know, isn't the case.
