1. He did put all of his eggs on the neo-con basket.........
didn't he? :eyes: There was a time when McCain could have made inroads within the Democratic Party. He probably could have siphoned off enough Democratic votes to be President at one time. That time has passed. Selling his soul to BushCo. was the worst mistake he could ever have made. "The Hug" will live on in the memories of Americans forever. Stick a fork in McCain, he's done.

3. I know this sounds awful but who cares?
When he accepted the torture amendment after spinning it to death he lost what little respect I had left for him.

4. If we're lucky the next time we hear from him is during his
resignation speech. I know that's not going to happen, but surely he must understand that much like his decisions during his entire political career, he F**KED UP.

5. Yeah, he's been real savvy lately, huh?
After Kerry's botched joke, McCain was one of the first (if not THE first) to open his mouth.

He was referred to on Huffington Post as 'Saint McCain', and the name was so apt, I'll never be able to think of him any other way from now on.

The poster upthread who said he might have been able to make inroads with the Dem party, at one point in time, was exactly right. The reason for that was because he spoke his mind, and didnt cower in the presence of the little idiot. Boy, how things have changed.

He's made his Faustian bargain, now he'll have to live with it.

<snip>

McCain, a 2008 Republican presidential contender, also renewed calls for more U.S. troops in Iraq to quell the insurgency and sectarian violence.

<snip>

"I look forward to discussing with Secretary-designate Gates his ideas for correcting the mistakes of the past - whether we are following the right strategy today, and whether or not we have sufficient forces in Iraq to provide the level of security that is indispensable to defeating the insurgency, and achieving a political resolution of sectarian conflict there. I also intend to discuss with Mr. Gates the urgent necessity of increasing the size of the Army and Marine Corps to alleviate the terrible strain on our active duty forces, Guard and Reserve, and meet the many challenges that confront us in this difficult time," said McCain.

7. McCain will be 72 at the time of the 2008 election.

I know, Ronnie was 69 when he was elected and "served" two terms (though there is much dispute as to how much he actually did in his second term... with Ronnie, he might well have "not remembered" anything about Iran-Contra). But McCain will be 72. And it's starting to show now. Will he really want to run? Will people vote for someone that old?

Anyway, the way he locked his lips to the posterior of the Chimp in Chief is sufficient to make him toast.
