I think we are winning this one, folks!
Actually, I am amazed.

Lately I have been steeling myself to fight to the end battles that I knew we could not win, but I think we are finally twisting enough DINO arms to make a difference.

A week ago, there was no filibuster likely to happen.

Now we have fifteen Senators who certainly are on the job, and many others who are "on the fence".

And all of this progress is because of YOU. YOU, the Online Democratic Activist. No other factor entered into this. ALL of this was pressure from you folks!

Now, tomorrow, we cannot let up. Call out sick from work if you have to. Spend the whole day FAXing and calling Senators!

WE WILL WIN THIS IF YOU DO.

-Ben

35. TODAY is the DAY, long remember this St Crispin's Day !!!!
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 03:35 PM by EVDebs
""He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian.'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispian's day.'
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester-
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
Make him a member of the gentry, even if he is a commoner.
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.""

http://www.thewednesdayreport.com/twr/st.crispins.day.html

I'm with you, Proud Patriot ! All of the DU is with you ! Kerry, Kennedy, all the 41 will be remembered and 'not hold their manhoods cheap'. Pity the poor ones who held back this day.

5. Someone above works in mysterious ways - my daughter
is going to be home sick tomorrow (strep) and I volunteered to be the one that takes first shift since I have a meeting on Tuesday. I figure with the exception of the dr. appt., I'll be busy all day on the phone, if I can get thru. I faxed them all the other night, and the ones that Dean has listed in his capwiz site (I think they're the ones on the fence) got another fax from me this morning.

22. Your daughter may learn a lot more than she would have in school.
Be sure to share with her what you are doing, and why, and how. I grew up in a home where we didn't really talk politics in the family. Now three of four are staunchly anti-** progressives. I can't help but wish we'd been more politically active, sooner.

36. The Freemasons used to ask this and it always worked for them
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 03:44 PM by EVDebs
"Oh Lord my God, is there no help for the poor sons of the widow of Naphtali ?"

Our Founding Fathers often had to request the aid of TGAOTU. This is how they did it.

""(All, in unison, as above, only this time, it is done twice): Oh Lord, my God, is there no help for the Widow’s Son? (Again, with arms raised): Oh Lord, my God, is there no help for the Widow’s Son?

WM: Brother Senior Grand Warden, our attempts are vain. What shall we do?

SW: Let us pray.

Chap: Thou, O God. Knowest our down sitting and our uprising, and understandest our thoughts afar off. Shield and defend us from the evil intentions of our enemies, and support us under the trials and afflictions we are destined to endure while traveling through this vale of tears. Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down; he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with Thee: Thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass. Turn from him that he may rest till he shall accomplish his day. For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. But man dieth and wasteth away; yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up, so man lieth down and riseth not till the Heavens be no more. Yet, O Lord, have compassion on the children of Thy creation; administer them comfort in time of trouble, and save them with an everlasting salvation. AMEN.""

Ritual of the Third Degree Master Mason, second section (scroll about halfway down)
http://www.totse.com/en/conspiracy/secret_societies/165167.html

No undertaking under our democracy is doable without the hand of TGAOTU helping. So mote it be !
Stop the Alito nomination process. We ask it.

11. then call other Senators
I hsve been telling them (if they ask) that I am not a constituent, but the Supreme court decisions are felt on a national level.

Most of the time, they are sooooo busy, they just note my vote and hang up.

15. If we get 37-38
As has been reported elsewhere, I'll consider that a moral victory because I never expected that many. If these folks really don't believe Alito has the best interest of the American people at heart, then the only solution is to stop him cold.

And convince four to simply sit it out, we win.

WE don't need 40 votes against cloture, they need 60 FOR it.

24. I'm 100% convinced we are going to win, I've even bet money on it.
There's no way the Democrats are going to keep stoking up the base like this and let them down right before an election. The lunatics that are calling them right now are the door knockers and the fund raisers of their campaigns. If they piss these people off, they might as well hang up thier campaign hat right now. They'd rip the heart out of thier base 6 months before an election if they didn't follow through with the filibuster. They may be "spineless" but they're not stupid. The filibuster will succeed and the Nuclear Option will not be an option. You can put money on that.

37. This winning might not be happening if * hadn't shot himself in the foot,
as usual. Between his NSA spying and his unitary dictatorship power grab in the offing, it might have slid by. He upped the anty and more people to the center had to stand against him. Hubris bites almost as hard as karma.
