Did Andy Stern (union boss) throw his weight against procorporatist Alito?
Edited on Sun Jan-29-06 05:07 PM by blm
I haven't seen anything yet, but may have missed it. Anyone know?

I was under the impression he sold himself as a pro-activism Union leader.

Seems to me that the pro-fascist, anti-worker Alito would have labor screaming their lungs out to filibuster.

Has he and I just missed it?

3. I guess you haven't been getting the newsletters
I've been getting as many as 5 a day on this subject. All with links and addresses and fax numbers, etc.

4. I'm not in the union. And no one posted the newsletters here that I saw.

That's why I am asking if he has weighed in about Alito or made a public statement.

I also didn't hear about him weighing in against Alito on any of the news shows.

I have been trying for the last two months to make Alito's confirmation about workers' rights and consumers. People like Matthews keep saying abortion is the only matter, and I heartily disagree.

6. I haven't been keeping them
but if you go to http://www.aflcio.org/ you'll find a place where you can subscribe to 'work in progress' which contains legislative actions and look for the closest local to you that'll send you alerts for your state, http://www.seiu.org/ which isn't as well organized but does have information on political action, http://www.unionvoice.org/wfn/main.html and the take a stand site at http://www.unionvoice.org/OPEIUORG/home.html

That should get you started. If you need more, I'll see about saving the next copy or 2 of what I get.

Any press releases?

10. Very few, mostly in local small papers where the union is strong
Otherwise, the only thing you'll be likely to hear about unions through the msm will be negative.

8. I would think the labor movement
would be on board with this. But I don't see any evidence of opposition to Alito on the websites:shrug:
This has major implications for the ability of labor to grow the movement and for basic worker protections.

9. That's why I am so mystified about this - can't find ANY public statement
or press release. And never saw him on any of the news shows this past month.
