3. Average 60/40 anti-Bush majority on ALL issues, over the last several
years, including 58% disapproval of the Iraq war way back before the invasion (Feb. '03), 63% disapproval of torture "under any circumstances" (May '03), and anti-bush views in the 60% to 70% range on Social Security, the deficit, women's rights and all major issues, in addition to 60/40 or MORE anti-bush sentiment on Bush approval ratings over the last year, and a 60/40 Democratic blowout success in new voter registration in 2004.

What's. Wrong. With. This. Picture?

Throw Diebold and ES&S election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW!*

*(And I am becoming more and more convinced that they don't just "select" Republicans.)

4. See this discussion. It's 90% Dems oppose or ARE UNSURE.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x265478

Not as strong as it first appears. However, with about 50% of the American people saying they're "unsure," that includes a lot of Repubs and others who don't trust Bush, who don't trust the war profiteering corporate news monopolies, and/or who feel uninformed/misinformed/disinformed by Bush and the news monopolies. When you put the 'don't knows' together with the "no's," that's a hell of a "vote of no confidence" in Bush and the news monopolies--and it gels with the 60/40 majority who despise Bush on all issues, as well as personally.

CBS News/New York Times Poll. Jan. 20-25, 2006. N=1,229 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3 (for all adults).

"As you may know, George W. Bush has nominated federal Judge Samuel A. Alito to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. What do you think right now? Should the Senate vote to confirm Samuel Alito as a justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, or vote against Alito, or can't you say?"

15. With such high "unsure" numbers, a filibuster is a great educational tool.
Most people can't remember the last filibuster, I sure can't. And even if they could, it wouldn't have been televised with all the drama and ceremony that a filibuster of Alito would entail. This would give Dems the best opportunity of their political careers to stand up and talk about what Dems stand for, which would elevate them in the eyes of Americans and increase the chances of taking over the Senate in 2006.

I think the Dems are looking at the cloud and not the silver lining. Not filibustering Alito will only prove to Repubs that Dems are "soft," they don't have what it takes to come out swinging in defense of their values.

16. The Incredibly Large Percentage Of Unsure Voters Shows Clearly How Much
Edited on Sun Jan-29-06 08:27 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
better we need to be next time getting the message out. Far too many people still have no idea whatsoever how dangerous Alito really is. I totally support the filibuster effort and hope it helps to get the message out more now, but it is a shame it took till this late in the game. By now most of the polls should have decidedly split numbers on yay or nay, not so many still in the middle. That glares out a communication problem. Hopefully this filibuster fight really brings out the dems fighting words and has an impact on the undecideds that we are absolutely fighting for them and their values.

(sorry bout posting in the other thread too, forgot which one I was in when I replied.)

and surprising. If we lived in a representative democracy it would mean no conformation, period.
