The Senate race wasn't close
There were 33 Senate races last night which split 21 Democratic, 9 Republican, 2 Independent, and 1 undecided (we should win it). And it stays a blow out when you look at votes received.

We got 31,297,420 votes (not counting either Sanders or Lieberman) which is 55.7% of the votes the GOP got 24,870,624 votes or 44.3%. That is an 11 point spread. We did that despite not fielding Democrats in 2 of the races (Vermont and Indiana). Don't let the press tell you this was a close election. We won, and won big, and don't you forget it.

7. Someone posted the Sens who have to defend in 2008,
and it's going to be another bloodbath, with us picking up another 4-5 seats. It should be a pretty good next 10 years in america and for the world.

9. Not only that this was not a presidential election year.
R's usually turn out in far greater numbers than we do in off years. Indeed "we won big!"

10. Also...
The last time the Dems had control of the Senate was 2000. The GOP took two election cycles to build up their 55-45 lead. The Dems erased this in one election. The Dems picked up 6 seats from the 9 available republican ones. Over the next two election cycles, there will be 40 republican seats and 27 Democratic seats. With less seats to defend, the Dems are clearly favored to pick up seats. I can always dream that the Dems will win the seats in the same proportion. :-)

13. Not to mention that Menendez and Cardin both won handidly
And those were supposed to be "close" according to pollsters. Next time someone says that New Jersey is going red, I'll say that I believe it when I see it.
