15. But wouldn't Lamont take his place?
How does that work? Is he replaced by the CT Governor or something like that?

11. It's A Theory That's Been Bandied About
That if the Dems win the Senate, Rummy would resign and they would offer the job to Lieberman. The CT Gov, a Repub, would then replace him w/ a Repub.

Sorry but Lieberman ain't taking this job for 2 YEARS and become utterly disgraced (I mean even more so than he has been) when he has a Senate seat guaranteed for SIX.

12. That seems to be the plan: Name Lieberman, call it bipartisan
and have the Republican governor of CT name a REPUB senator, thereby stealing our majority by fiat and jiggering, winning that way what couldn't be won at the ballot box...disgraceful fuckwads.

Look for a Lieberman appointment, rushed through before January, and the appointment of a replacement senator from CT... appointed by a GOP Gov?

Anybody have info that will assure me it WON'T go down that way?

Rummy is Roves ace in the hole.

Lieberman has done everthing to stab the Democratic Party in the back except turn Republican. Way not resign his Senate seat, allow Connecticut's GOP governor to appoint his successor and give the upper house to Bush's party?

46. Not a good career move from Lieby's perspective
I voted Lamont, donated to Lamont and wrote several strong anti-Lieberman letters that were published & I planted yard signs for Lamont.

But, if you look at it from Lieberman's perspective, it is not a good career move:

Choice 1: Be a part of the lame duck Bush White House for 2 years that will likely be besieged with subpoenas and constantly on the defensive.

Choice 2: Keep your job for six more years, and enjoy at least the next two years where people from both sides have to kiss your ass to get your vote.
