Scathing editorial from Buzzflash on Dem capitulation.....
Harry Reid, What Will be Your Excuse for Defeat Next Time? The Democratic Leadership in the Senate May Not Fight for the Constitution, But We Will.

A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL

Harry Reid, what will be your excuse for defeat next time?

For 5 years, we have taken some potshots at some people in the Democratic Party, as we should. But, generally, we stood in support of the Dem Party leadership because when you have had a choice between a party that -- in general -- claims to work for the common good and -- on the other hand -- a dictatorship run by incompetent law-breaking, torturing elitists, you go with the former.

Besides, we cherish the tradition of Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy -- and the politically reborn Jimmy Carter and Al Gore.

But we aren't going to give the benefit of the doubt to the current Congressional Democratic leadership anymore. We have had enough excuses.

And through Tom Daschle's repeated capitulations to Bush -- his occasional criticisms followed by quick apologies or retreats -- and now the same from Harry Reid, we were still promised that the Dems were only giving ground to the most heinous legislation and betrayals of the Constitution from the White House -- time after time -- in order to hold their fire to prevent the Supreme Court from being radicalized into a partisan right wing arm of the extremist Republican Party.

2. Thank you, buzzflash.
Molly Ivins expressed similar sentiments on Washington Journal yesterday. She is fed up. I`m fed up. Anyone with eyes and ears ought to be fed up. For me, the days of quietly accepting the failures of gutless Democratic leaders are O-V-E-R.

3. It's hard not to go off on DLC apologists lately
and stay within even the relatively liberal posting rules on DU. Why can't party conservatives see that their policies of appeasment and dragging the party to the right just don't work, unless their aim all along was to give the country lock, stock and barrel to the rich and the religious nuts in the GOP by encouraging the party base to abstain from voting? This is what I can't understand, this insistence that all conservatives in all parties always make that continuing to do the same thing over and over again will somehow produce a howling success out of continual failure.

Is change really that terrifying to conservatives?

4. I just reread the buzzflash editorial.
Honestly, I`d like to send a copy to every Democratic leader in Washington and every so-called Democratic pundit. We can continue to excuse their miserable failures or we can do something about it. Buzzflash`s comment about Murtha`s treatment was just dripping with truth.

5. This really doesn't help
They have a large audience and it's a shame they don't use their space to frame a message and educate voters who don't understand what the fight is about. The core problem is STILL too many voters who believe right wing spin and then pressure their own politicians accordingly. This piece doesn't even address the ad campaigns running in NE, MT and the Dakotas. Until we accept the reality that some states have weak Democratic message machines, we're going to keep having these national problems. These snide shitty articles don't do anything for anybody except for the owners of Buzzflash who only get clicks when they post snark and snipe. I know that for a fact and so does everybody who has ever run a blog, nobody clicks or cross-posts unless it's a scoop or red meat.

6. What the hell are you talking about?
This editorial is anything but snide. It is an in-your-face to the democratic leaders who desperately need someone in their faces. And not a moment too soon. If the demise of our Constitution, our Democracy and the rule of law are not important enought for our democratic leadership to fight like they have never fought before, I truly don't know what is.
