Anyone else amazed at the ratio of views vs replies on DU Threads?

I am stunned by the number of viewd and the actual respone ratio

It is like there a hundreds of peeople out there looking at every thread but most choose not to respond.


I might look at 15 threads a sitting but I respond to about half of them. I thought I was normal....how about you?

On how much time I have (sometimes I read DU for the headlines), and whether I actually have anything to say.

The RATIOS can be surprising as well.

7. Not really.

I know DUers, who have been here from almost the beginning, who choose to read and seldom respond. They do come here for the information and they aren't spies.
I'm not saying that there aren't those here as well.

8. I know myself..I am curious by an OP, then find it was something else so I

move on. So too when I am running through latest..I don't have the time to respond to every post that interests me.

9. That's common on view counts because

the counter doesn't count how many different posters looked at but how many times the page was loaded on any computer. If I view, then post then go back and view my response to make sure it came out right then it counts 2 views. And if I have to modify a mistake it might count 2 more.

On a very small board I post on it's very common to have 100 views and 9 posts because of the way the counter works.

that's another view (and often many more than once). You can use "My DU" to check, but most probably just bring the OP up again.

Unfortunately, it seems like a lot respond only when they have something negative to say.

I've noticed from my "My DU", that I can post a whole bunch of nice replies, and the only one that gets a response will be the only one where I took exception to something that was said.

And, even sadder, if you notice, the contentious threads and posts get the most replies.

Say something kind, and it drops or is ignored.

It's sad, really.
