To top it all off - he was with Jeb Bush when they asked him about it.

Crist answers question about sexual orientation

As gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist and Governor Jeb Bush campaigned around the state including in Fort Myers, a political bombshell was being dropped in Tallahassee. A gay activist group is challenging Crist to "come out." NBC2's David Sutta went straight to Crist, who set the record straight.

"You have had a long time relationship with a male staffer and convicted felon," said Kyle DeVries, President of ProudofWhoWeAre.org

n/t

DeVries is claiming Crist is gay based on a video that has surfaced on the internet. The video allegedly shows a Katherine Harris aide being deposed. However, we could not verify what she was being deposed for.

The woman claims another staffer admitted to her that he is Crist's lover.

You only heard about the guys because of the times. That old Jewish society was very patriarchal. I would have probably had a mess of kids with Mary Magdalene and settled down somewhere in the south of France if it wasn't for that whole "getting nailed to the cross" thing (ouch!)

8. It's an acceptible variant spelling
Seriously. Crist is an Austrian surname which was spelled Christ in early US records. I suspect that the "h" was dropped as a function of Protestant sensibilities, for the same reason you won't find many protestants naming their sons Jesus.

And the Democratic opponent - whose name I still don't know, even though I voted for him - is just now starting to run ads in North Florida. Like a house of straw against the Big Bad Wolf.

How can a Democrat hope to win against a rich, powerful, shameless Republican if the Democrat doesn't even want to stand up and fight? Like it or not, and I sure don't like it, Florida will be run by "Jesus" Crist, a Bush lapdog. The Florida Democratic Party flubbed again.

Even Governor Chiles, who was pretty much a great guy, was in bed with the prison industry. We've got too many people wasting time trying to convince republicans to vote Democrat by acting like them rather than showing how Democratic values benefit everybody.

41. It's worse; there's the "Democratic Metrosexual Ghetto."
The only print organ in Orlando that promotes Democrats is a "Metrosexual free weekly." It's one of those magazines whose ad support comes from gay and bisexual dating services, tattoo parlors, drug rehab vacation getaways and danceteria restaurants. The weekly keeps sniping at local and national Republican politicians, and it's good that someone's attacking them, but the attacks are more a matter of inconvenience.

"Those damn Republicans shut down out our raves" is the level of complaint. There's a little talk about the homeless, because the metrosexuals see them wandering past their cappucino al fresco cafe's all the time, and they're all too aware how close they are to joining them. But there's no way these guys can understand, relate to, or connect with ordinary working people. Like their favorite cartoonist, Tom Tomorrow, they hate anyone who might disagree with them, instead of figuring out why they might disagree and how to change their minds.

It was astonishing to see a failed Democratic candidate, who had run a lackluster and uninspired campaign against a Republican, writing in the paper for about a year. His column, if truly entitled, would have been called "Sour Grapes." He showed no understanding for the constituency he claimed he wanted to serve. I have no idea what happened to the dude. Maybe he gave up on politics and decided to "serve the public" by slopping food on student's plates in a junior high cafeteria, snarling at them to keep moving.

It's not that these guys are wrong in fighting, it's that their fight is inescapably tied up with their egos. Democrats used to appeal to people different than them. Now, the public face these guys present is intolerant, unsympathetic and conceited. Is it any wonder that Democratic votes are hard to find, when their voice comes from those rich-boy downtown condos instead of the streets?

42. Yeah, we need to be more populist in general, but especially in Florida.
It seems a no-brainer to me - the "right to work" bullshit effectively renders unions impotent and the working class institutionally exploited. It seems like simply taking the time to explain this and offer an alternative would double our party membership alone.

PWWA-Florida writes to Attorney General Charlie Crist

The Honorable Charlie Crist
Attorney General
420 E. Jefferson Street
Tallahassee, FL 32301

Dear Attorney General Crist:

My name is Kyle DeVries. I am a proud gay American and President of the Florida Chapter of Proud of Who We Are. In 2005 I lobbied the Florida Legislature to enact safe schools and gay adoption legislation, and I served as a 2006 organizing and training fellow for the nation’s oldest national gay and lesbian civil rights organization.

Mr. Crist, you are on the record opposing gay marriage and gay adoption. More importantly, however, you are also on the record – twice – asserting that that you have never had sexual contact with another man and that you are not gay.

However, there is now a sworn, legally binding, videotaped, and newly public deposition on the internet indicating that you have had a long-term relationship with a male staffer (and convicted felon) on Rep. Harris’s campaign staff.

To me, this is not about whether or not you are gay. Rather, it’s about whether or not you are being honest with millions of social conservative Florida voters who are adamantly opposed to what they see as the “homosexual lifestyle.”

Many influential social conservative leaders see gay relationships between consenting adults as perverted. According to Time magazine (Oct 26, 1998) Pat Robertson, of the Christian Broadcasting Network, warned that hurricanes could hit Orlando because of gay events there. Robertson actually said “the acceptance of homosexuality is the last step in the decline of Gentile civilization." One Palm Beach-area pastor, whose support you have sought, recently said, “Homosexuality makes God want to vomit.”

Possibly there is an innocent explanation for what the deposition seems to indicate. As a candidate for the highest office in the state of Florida you are asking the citizens of our state to enter into a public trust with you to represent our interests and values. If you have so far chosen to lie about who you are, instead of being truthful and letting the political chips fall where they may, then you are creating a serious honesty problem, even before a possible Crist Administration begins.

Sincerely,

Kyle DeVries, President
Proud of Who We Are, Florida Chapter

Mike Rogers, President
Proud of Who We Are

12. Republican gubernatorial candidate's sexuality in the news again
<snip>

"Rumors have been flying about Florida attorney general and Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist ever since a third-party candidate alleged he is gay on a local radio show last month. Now the Broward–Palm Beach New Times is reporting that Crist had a recent romantic relationship with a male convicted felon and former travel aide to U.S. representative Katherine Harris, who is running for the U.S. Senate.

The New Times report identifies Bruce Carlton Jordan, who remains on state probation after serving a 30-day jail sentence for a conviction on grand theft, as the 50-year-old Crist's "long-term partner." Jordan reportedly worked as Harris's personal travel aide not long after his release from jail in February, according to the New Times.

It was while he was employed in that capacity that another traveler on the Harris campaign, Dee Dee Hall, befriended him. In a videotaped statement ordered by a private investigator and obtained by the New Times, Hall claimed that Jordan confided to her that he had an ongoing romantic relationship with Crist. "He said that he was involved with Charlie," Hall says on the tape after being sworn in by a court reporter. "I was like, 'OK.' He just stated his first name. He said, 'Maybe you've heard of him.' He said, 'Charlie Crist.'"

Crist has repeatedly denied that he is gay and, with the election looming next week, has recently become more vocal in his stance against adoption by gay couples and in support of an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to ban same-sex marriage."

Crist won't lose just because he is gay - even if it cost him a few votes. Crist supporters already know he lies. IF there were reliable reports that Crist and Jeb covered up for Foley - as AG he would lose lots of votes and really piss off the independents.

Crist Denies Trysts
GOP frontrunner: I have never had sex with a man
By Bob Norman

A young rising star in the Republican Party has boasted to
witnesses of his sexual relationship with Charlie Crist, the
frontrunner in the Florida governor's race who has repeatedly
denied that he is gay.
The GOP staffer, 21-year-old Jason Wetherington, told friends at
separate social functions in August that he had sex with Crist,
according to two credible and independent sources who heard
Wetherington make the claim first-hand.

Wetherington, who recently worked as a field director for U.S.
Senate candidate Katherine Harris and currently works for state
representative Ellyn Bodganoff's reelection campaign, also named
a man whom he said is Crist's long-term partner, a convicted
thief named Bruce Carlton Jordan who also recently worked for
Harris in her long-shot Senate bid.

Jordan made headlines recently when the Miami Herald learned
that the felon was working as Harris's travel aide. The
newspaper noted that Jordan, 42, was reported to be close
friends with Charlie Crist, whom he convinced to attend an
annual Florida Funeral Directors Association meeting in 2003.

Jordan was charged in 2003 with stealing thousands of dollars
from two organizations for whom he worked, including the
Tallahassee-based Florida Funeral Directors Association, where
he served as executive director. He completed a 60-day jail
sentence in February and will be on probation until the year
2011, according to state records.

When the Herald questioned Crist about Jordan this past August,
the frontrunner in the governor's race told the newspaper that
he doesn't remember the man. "I don't know who Bruce Jordan
is," he said at the time. "It doesn't mean I haven't met him. I
don't know who you are speaking about."
