Any of Our Troops In Iraq Read DU?
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 03:31 PM by endarkenment
How about a nice banner reading "We Are Stuck Here Because of Stupid"?

Wouldn't that be nice? What's the worst they could do to you?

3. I heard that liberal sites are often blocked for the troops.
Heard that just recently on AAR. I don't know if it's true for all the troops or just some.

14. "We wish he'd studied more and worked harder"
Maybe they could do a generic thing such as the title?

It would be clear who it was aimed at without getting our troops in trouble
(Hopefully if they don't write *it's* name they couldn't be reprimanded!)

19. Wouldn't the publicity for that be terrible for * though?
Actually doing it would have to look terrible. Punishing any military person in IRAQ for dissing the unpopular Bush would have to make the military look unreasonable.

And they couldn't do it as a practical matter if it involved large numbers.

21. Their access to news & commentary is already censored by Uncle Sam
Last I heard, the troops could listen to Rush but not Air America.

When a citizen takes the oath to join the military, many of the civil liberties we civilians take for granted are sharply curtailed. That's why I am loathe to criticize their overall lack of political involvement -- not only is their information limited, but their freedoms as well.

27. Makes no sense. Shouldn't they of all people have their freedom?
LOL, if what you say is true that convicts the Repukes right there! They are going for mind control, not freedom! LOL, the Repukes get pukier all the time. They owe and apology to all the troops!

If someone put me in that environment and called ME a "comma" I would NOT be thrilled. :argh:

20. I found it on FARK.. so it's probably photoshopped
you can see the E's are cloned. I have no idea if the original banner was photoshopped. Don't really care. It's just sad that the soldiers can't really make a sign like the one I posted without severe repercussions, but (if it was real) they can stand holding a sign disparaging a US Senator who has worked tirelessly on their behalf.

By all means pass this (the pic I posted) around to others.

24. That is not all they hear.
I do not believe for one minute that the soldiers stuck in Iraq are fooled by the bullshit media system. The kids I know who went over, about 50% are dead against the war. The fact that the government is willfully trying to keep alternative views away from them is indicative of widespread dissent, not lockstep enthusiasm for an undefined mission that will never end.

25. I believe DU is blocked. They would also have to be really careful
about saying something bad about * in public also. I remember when the 3rd ID out of GA made some comments to a reporter on TV about Rumsfeld/Cheney/& Dubya back in 2003 when they had their tour extended a couple of times and the government was trying to court-martial them. I can't remember the exact comments that were made, but they had also made their own deck of "most wanted" playing cards with the * administration's faces on them. I'm not sure what happened with that situation. Needless to say, it disappeared from the MSM. It would definitely be "frowned upon", but if it got a lot of publicity, it would probably be a lot worse for those that put it up.
