RUMOR! Air America thinking about syndicating Armstrong Williams
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 06:03 PM by Fighting Irish
After alienating many of their listeners after firing Mike Malloy and suffering through some badly mangled PR related to their financial issues and upper management squabbles, Air America Radio might trump all of that with a new rumored move.

The Hill, by way of Wonkette, is floating a rumor that Air America is considering syndication of right-wing radio flack and former Bush Administration paid propagandist Armstrong Williams, currently toiling away with liberal co-host Sam Greenfield in morning drive at their New York City affiliate WWRL.

Air America struck a deal this summer to move its New York home from WLIB to WWRL. The source said that as part of the deal, WWRL wants the Sammy and Army show syndicated on Air America radio. Such a deal would bring in more cash to WWRL, and word is that Air America is on board. But Air American does not want to syndicate the Williams show before the elections, which would presumably rile its liberal listeners (gee, you think?).

1. Well, Malloy verified that AAR is now run by GOP moles..
Who are there precisely to destroy AAR, so this isn't surprising at all.

Randi and Sam might want to consider a cut and run strategy.

2. confirmed how?
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 06:06 PM by cenacle
is there online documentation to back up his claim? Until I see convincing evidence, I have a hard, no, *impossible*, time believing the station that hosts Franken/Rhodes/Maddow/Seder/Kennedy etc is run by "GOP Moles."

Also, is there documentation for what happened between AAR and Malloy?

8. via his mouth?
is that documentation? I don't listen to Malloy but I would certainly like to see his statement about what happened. As far as I can tell, nobody knows what happened with him, in terms of a factual, impartial account of it. "GOP moles" running Air America? They why are they bankrupt?

I don't believe any of the statements in this thread, it seems like flamer bait. Unless someone can post some documentation, which I am beginning to doubt will happen, it's just anti-AAR crap, and pathetic.

Don't like Air America? Tune out. Rush and O'Reilly and Hannity and all the rest will welcome you on board. As far as I'm concerned, Air America is fantastic, and I've not seen any evidence that it as a network, or individuals running it, are compromised in the way being claimed. If its major stars, like Randi and Al and Hartman start jumping ship, I'll give all this the least bit of creedence.

9. I'm probably the biggest Randi and Sam fan on DU
What the fuck are you talking about? Mike said what he said about AAR management and I trust him, period.

13. Malloy lays the blame on Bob Ennis
He's the CFO of AAR. Used to work for News Corp.

Current CEO is some former cosmetics industry guy.

4. This is great news!
I have some really awesome editorials I wanted read on the radio, but nobody took me seriously.

Now, all I have to do is write a check to Armstrong Williams, and he'll read them on the air and pretend they're his own thoughts!

YAY!

I am SO HAPPY!

5. Maybe they can hire Michael Crichton as a science commentator
Or James Dobson on womens' issues, while they're at it.

7. I have a hard time believing Armstong Williams would do this.
AAR is a business. If your business is struggling, you look for fixes. I have no problem with them hosting a dissenting voice from their core message (Fox sponsors a liberal talk show from their token whipping boy, Colmes). The problem is when they deviate from their core mission. When that happens, they'll start to fail.

But that said, Armstrong Williams is not a good choice. There's plenty of non-whore right wingers out there who can talk. I don't see why they'd have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for this one. I suspect this is a rumor only.

14. Williams is a RW Colmes to Sam Greenfields' Left Wing Hannity. That's how
their show works.

10. It's not a bad show. Sam Greenfield dominates heavily, and he's good. NT

12. If true, how pathetic...
All of their hosts have slammed Armstrong Williams, at one time or another, for his paid propaganda for the Bush Crime Family, and now they might have to have him on their line-up? Is this a sick joke, or what?

I'm glad Mike Malloy isn't associated with AAR anymore. I just hope Sam Sedar can get a gig with a different company at some point. He's the only one I still like on that network.
