Putting our money where Malloy's mouth is...update
Back when Malloy was unceremoniously fired from Air America, I issued a call to action for Malloy fans to make it attractive for someone else to pick him up. I wanted to see if there was enough interest from we Truthseekers to agree to help financially, to show our support for Mike and Kathy, and to ensure that there is at least one regular sponsor.

Now that Malloy's back, it's time for us to put our heads together, and for those of us who can, carry through with our promise of support.

I've spoken with one of the advertising honchos at AAPHX. Network-wide rate cards aren't available yet, but she will send them to me as soon as they are. (Remember that right now, the Malloy part of the network is only two stations, with more coming down the road). I do, however, have ad rates for the flagship station, KPHX.

A :60 ad during Malloy's show (actually during the 7 PM-Midnight slot, but we can specify that it air during Malloy's time) runs $40.00 each. If we run one spot a week, that's eminently affordable. If we run one spot each night of a week, it would come to $200.00 a week before any discounts kick in. Or we could run MWF for $120.00 a week before discounts.

Some of the options we discussed included a running ad for Democratic Underground if Skinner signed on, just a generic "Friends of Mike Malloy" ad showing our support, or a "Truthseeker Minute" (like the old "Nation Minute" spots on AAR) commentary. If we went the third route, I'd be willing to lend my production and (if need be) voiceover skills for free to make this happen.

So, is anyone still willing to kick in something? Let's see what we think we can afford, what we want to do, and I'll investigate where we go from here.

4. I've got zip to contribute, but I would
I think it's a perfect placement for a Bartcop ad. I'd go with a MWF program because I detest saturation advertising. From the 90K DU members, if only 10K are Malloy fans or Truthseekers, putting up a buck each could support a pretty good ad campaign. Looking at the Truthseeker threads, even the hundred or so hard-core types could make this happen.

5. I love this idea
I'm not sure which option I'd prefer but I'm willing to contribute.

6. This is how Limbaugh started.
The difference is he had a few like-minded people who donated to his show by buying ads for their businesses. It would take a lot of us ponying up what we can, but we can become an advertising force for Mike's show.
