Sorry all, I just don't see anything getting done even if we take back the House and Senate.
No one's going to impeach Shrub. No one's going to force him to pull troops from Iraq. No one's going to roll back the tax cuts. No one's going to put in a REAL SUPREME COURT JUSTICE! and no way in hell anyone's gonna balance the budget.
You know why?
Even if we win we're not going to win big. Even if we lose, they're not going to win big. The balance is going to stay the same effectively. 1-5 seats out of 435 is nothing. If the planets align and Diebold breaksdown, we're still not going to get anything through the Senate because those people will filibuster anything of value. Seriously:
Can you see senate Repugs NOT blocking impeachment? No way Can you see senate Repugs accepting a budget that cuts funding for troops in Iraq? No way Can you see senate Repugs allowing anything to get through? Nope.
They'd never do it in normal times, but on 11/8...the 2008 race for the White House begins, and not only will senate Repugs block everything, 10-15 House and 10-15 senate members from both parties are going to start juggling for poll position. No one's going to take a stand and do what's needed, and if they did...they'll never get anything past the jerks who want to maintain the status quo.
The only way to win is to win big, and we blew it this time. I don't know how, but we did. Democrats had a 28 seat gain at one point in the House and a 5 seat gain in the Senate. Now polls show we won't get either.
I've lost hope.
Diebold State senators who fix elections BS impeachments of the best Presidents while the WORST PRESIDENT EVER gets a free pass and all his oil-gargling, blood-thirsty scumbag friends at Haliburton and ENRON make billions.
Nah...I think I'm gonna do the usual and vote all Democrat, but I don't think it's going to make a difference-not more of a difference than it did in 94, 96, 98, 00, 02, or 04.
All the while, I dare say I'm starting to look seriously at what used to be taboo tickets: socialists. Slogan ought to be "It's not your comrade's same ole party anymore"
The DNC is DOA. Gov Dean has talked a good talk, but he's failed to walk the walk.
