3. I read somewhere that it's German.

The actual last name was "Rover" but some generations ago, someone in his family dropped the last r to "Americanize" the name.

Herr Rover, a German. I heard he was an architech for the Nazi's, something about designing one of the camps. But I haven't been able to validate the information, through a reputable source.

Rove is a Scandinavian name -- Norwegian, I think. But it's actually his stepfather's name, not his birth father's.
