Michael J. Fox tells ABC he has not read Cloning/Stem Cell Amendment.
Stephanopoulos: In the ad now running in Missouri, Jim Caviezel speaks in Aramaic. It means, "You betray me with a kiss." And his position, his point, is that actually even though down in Missouri they say the initiative is against cloning, it's actually going to allow human cloning.

Fox: Well, I don't think that's true. You know, I campaigned for Claire McCaskill. And so I have to qualify it by saying I'm not qualified to speak on the page-to-page content of the initiative. Although, I am quite sure that I'll agree with it in spirit, I don't know, I— On full disclosure, I haven't read it, and that's why I didn't put myself up for it distinctly.

But I've made this point before, and I really am sincere in it, that anybody who's prayed on this, and thought about it, and really considered it and can't get their mind around or their heart around the idea of embryonic stem cell research, I'd go to war for your right to believe that. And you're right to feel that. I respect it. I truly do.

My point is, and our point as a community, is we have a very good and supportable conclusion that a vast majority of people in this country are in favor of science playing a leading role in making changes in the future and believe in embryonic stem cell research.

The new screed from the assholes on the right.

WHY does it matter if he has read it? You ever hear of having people who read things for you? I bet dollars to donuts many pro patriot act folks had not read the bill completely before voting on (ie, they got a synopsis and that was that).

Good grief you dumb asses are REALLY GRASPING at straws here aren't you.

Distract from rush's vile remarks, and the issue in and of itself, and you can sleep more soundly at night as you proclaim 'rush was right'. Um, no. MJ Fox was not faking it, and THAT is the issue in the news right now YOU want us to stop focusing on.

Pretty damned sad.

2. read elsewhere about the new angle from the right... try to use "cloning"
as a replacement term for embryonic stem cell research (incorrectly) in order to invoke images of daisy the sheep and frankenstein. It makes no sense. Wonder how stupid Stephanopolous must be to fall for the GOP switch and bait and use it in his questioning of Fox?

4. Remember in Farenheit 9/11
when it was disclosed that the congresspeople who voted on the Patriot Act hadn't even read it?

So, anyway..I'm guessing Michael J Fox will go read it now.

And what's this about jim caviezle? Is he some wingnutted mope?

5. The Ad was for Claire McCaskill NOT amendment that...
the fundie ad is against. I don't know what that one amendment says.

Mr. Fox was not trying to talk about that ballot measure, or he would have said support amendment 2. People in this country are so stupid sometimes.

14. Well not really
If you think he didn't endorse the initiative because he hadn't read it, you don't understand what he said. His words are in the OP.

He is campaigning for Claire McCaskill. End of story.

If he decides to take a position on the initiative, that will be something completely separate to what he's been doing so far.

13. Which is exactly what he said
The Missouri initiative isn't relevant, he's campaigning for Claire McCaskill. PERIOD.

Him reading it or not has got nothing to do with nothing. He's campaigning for Claire McCaskill.

11. "Limbaugh Outfoxed"
Have you read this by William Saletan over at wapo.com?

snip~

"In the book, Fox explains his life in the real world -- the world his body inhabits, as opposed to the make-believe world Limbaugh saw on television. Fox describes how, during "the years I spent promoting the fiction that none of this was actually happening to me," he learned "to titrate medication so that it kicked in before an appearance or performance. . . . I did everything I could to make sure the audience didn't know I was sick. This, as much as anything, had, by 1998, become my 'acting.' " When he came out of the Parkinson's closet, Fox recalls, he chose "to appear before the subcommittee without medication. It seemed to me that this occasion demanded that my testimony about the effects of the disease . . . be seen as well as heard."

Much more..
