Lamont gaining ground (Lieberman up by 8)
http://mydd.com/

It looks like Schlesinger is taking votes from Lieberman, and that the Q-Poll was an outlier. Lamont has a massive GOTV operation, much larger than Lieberman's. I wouldn't be surprised if Lieberman's operation replicated his corrupt primary approach, which involved putting lots of untraceable cash on the streets.

This poll feels right, and it's more in line with internal polls across the state that I've heard about. Lamont has sat in the low forties since August, and Lieberman has lost a few points to Alan's charismatic performances, which also makes sense. Still, if this is the score going into election day, it's hard to see how Lamont makes up 8 points. Looking at it optimistically, there is ballot positioning, which could take a few points from Lieberman, and there's field, which could add a few to Lamont. And then there's the fact that a certain percentage of hard-core Republicans may just balk at voting for Lieberman, period, even though they'll tell a pollster otherwise. 8 is a lot to make up.

Of course, it's not election day, and the trend is in the right direction. The war keeps growing as an issue, and while it's not adding to Lamont's support, it is damaging Joe.

11. Why won't he be there?
Sorry, us Tennesseans have our own fight on our hands and I haven't kept up with Connecticut.

13. He Said He Won't...
don't know his own reasons for not showing up, but from what I've been reading about the last debates, Lieberman is losing. This is why Lamont is catching up probably.... lieberman is making a big mistake by not showing up... watch him change his mind.

7. There is a lot of strange psychology involved in the mess in CT
On the flip side of your almost hope, a Clinton showing up in support of Joe might cause some Dems who would vote for Lamont to vote for LIEberman. Strange days, indeed!

5. If Lamont can pull within the margin of error before the election...
...he has a good shot. I'm one of many people who believe that not all of those publicans who say that they will vote for LIEberman actually will when it comes time to cast their ballot.

Go Ned, Go!!!

6. I have yet to see a poll closer than that
This new poll either represents momentum for Lamont, or his ceiling. Every time I have seen a poll with Lamont closing in to a high single digit deficit, another poll comes out a few days later showing Lieberman back up by double digits again.

10. I cannot believe that Lieberman is actually ahead in CT!!!
How is that possible?
He is not a Democrat!! How could any Dem or Independent with half brain or any conscience vote for him??!! He could not win with Repuke votes only, could he?

He is a Bush-asskissing, lying, war-monger.

14. unfortunately, Incumbents often get the benefit of just *being* on the ballot

Average Joe hasn't heard of Ned Lamont, so he's going to go with the name he recognizes-- Lieberman.

(I still think Ned is going to win, though)

20. Sounds like an impossible balancing act
for Liarman. He has to appeal to a sufficient number of Democrats and also to a good portion of the repukes. Hopefully it will be difficult enough for Liarman that Lamont is able to squeak though. Hope so!
