That's IT. I'm PISSED BEYOND BELIEF! The DEMS HAVE A PLAN FOR IRAQ DAMMIT!!!!!!
I'm SO SICK AND TIRED of the MSM and everyone else spewing the LIE that the Democrats have no plan for Iraq. Imbeciles! They MOST CERTAINLY DO have a plan for Iraq! It's the REPUBS who have no plan, but to cover their asses they project their own lack of plan onto the Democrats for political gain.

Well I'm sick and tired of the shennigans.

Full Text of Rep. John Murtha's Plan to Exit Iraq Now

My plan calls:

-- To immediately redeploy U.S. troops consistent with the safety of U.S. forces.
-- To create a quick reaction force in the region.
-- To create an over- the- horizon presence of Marines.
-- To diplomatically pursue security and stability in Iraq

This war needs to be personalized. As I said before I have visited with the severely wounded of this war. They are suffering.

Because we in Congress are charged with sending our sons and daughters into battle, it is our responsibility, our OBLIGATION to speak out for them. Thatâ?™s why I am speaking out.

Our military has done everything that has been asked of them, the U.S. can not accomplish anything further in Iraq militarily. IT IS TIME TO BRING THEM HOME.

And another one...

Pelosi, at a press conference with reporters, said Murtha — her closest confidant on defense matters — has “changed the debate” in the country on the war, has won her support and will win the backing of the “majority of House Democrats.” Murtha, a former Marine who initially supported the war, announced two weeks ago that he no longer supported the conflict in Iraq and called for a rapid withdrawal of American troops from the region.

“He knows of what he speaks,” Pelosi said of Murtha. “I believe the plan he has put forth makes America safer, our military stronger and Iraq more secure.”

Pelosi added that the Bush administration has “used poor judgment” and has yet to lay out a clear course to conclude U.S. involvement in Iraq. “There is a better way to do it,” the Minority Leader said ... and at the very least the nation should “have a debate on the subject.”

Pelosi’s move comes just a week before the House Democrats are scheduled to meet privately to discuss the war, and decide whether they should unify around one policy and message on the topic. Pelosi said Wednesday that while she has made her own position clear, she does not believe the Democrats should vote to take a stand on Iraq, nor will she encourage Members to follow her lead and endorse Murtha.

And another one...

February 20, 2006
WASHINGTON -- After months of trying unsuccessfully to develop a common message on the war in Iraq, Democratic Party leaders are beginning to coalesce around a broad plan to begin a quick withdrawal of US troops and install them elsewhere in the region, where they could respond to emergencies in Iraq and help fight terrorism in other countries.

The concept, dubbed ''strategic redeployment," is outlined in a slim, nine-page report coauthored by a former Reagan administration assistant Defense secretary, Lawrence J. Korb, in the fall. It sets a goal of a phased troop withdrawal that would take nearly all US troops out of Iraq by the end of 2007, although many Democrats disagree on whether troop draw-downs should be tied to a timeline.

Howard Dean, Democratic National Committee chairman, has endorsed Korb's paper and begun mentioning it in meetings with local Democratic groups. In addition, the study's concepts have been touted by the senator assigned to bring Democrats together on Iraq -- Jack Reed of Rhode Island -- and the report has been circulated among all senators by Senator Dianne Feinstein, an influential moderate Democrat from California...

But in its broad outlines, many leading Democrats say the Korb plan represents an answer to Republicans' oft-repeated charge that Democrats aren't offering a way forward on Iraq -- and to do so in a way that is neither defeatist nor blindly loyal to the president.

That's not all folks!

PLANFORIRAQ.COM
BIDEN-GELB PLAN FOR IRAQ

President Bush does not have a strategy for victory in Iraq. His strategy is to prevent defeat and to hand the problem off to his successor. As a result, more and more Americans want to bring our troops home immediately, even at the risk of trading a dictator for chaos and a civil war that could become a regional war. Both are bad alternatives.

There is a third way. Leslie Gelb, President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, and I have proposed a five-point plan to keep Iraq together, protect America's interests and bring our troops home.

Sectarian violence among Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds is now the major impediment to stability and progress in Iraq. No number of troops can solve that problem. The only way to hold Iraq together and create the conditions for our armed forces to responsibly withdraw is to give Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds incentives to pursue their interests peacefully. That requires a sustainable political settlement, which is the primary objective of our plan.

The plan would maintain a unified Iraq by decentralizing it and giving Kurds, Shiites and Sunnis breathing room in their own regions - as provided for in the Iraqi constitution. The central government would be responsible for common interests, like border security and the distribution of oil revenues. We would secure support from the Sunnis - who have no oil -- by guaranteeing them a proportionate share (about 20 percent) of oil revenues. We would increase economic aid, ask the oil-rich Arab Gulf states to fund it and tie all assistance to the protection of minority rights and the creation of a jobs program. We would convene a regional conference to enlist the support of Iraq's neighbors and create a Contact Group of the major powers to enforce their commitments. And we would ask our military to draw up plans to responsibly withdraw most U.S. forces from Iraq by the end of 2007 - enough time for the political settlement to take hold.

The course we're on has no end in sight. This plan can allow us to achieve the two objectives most American share: to leave Iraq without leaving chaos behind. I hope you will take the time to read the plan and endorse it by adding your email address to our list of supporters.

Thank you,

Joe Biden, U.S. Senator (D-DE)
Ranking Member, U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee

Not finished yet!

Kerry Urges U.S. To Start Withdrawl from Iraq
Senator John F. Kerry (D - Mass.) yesterday called for the withdrawl of 20,000 troops from Iraq by year's end as the first step in a proposal that would significantly reduce U.S. military forces in the region over the next 15 months.

4. Learn it & spread it around this week.
"Dems don't have a plan" will NOT be a reason for voters to stay home next week.

5. I think it would be best if they could all get together and come up
with a single plan and stick with it while acknowledging that it may have to change once it is implemented.

11. Even Harold Ford has talked about a plan for Iraq
I don't agree with it but he has something that isn't "stay the course" and he can point to history as a reference. He suggests to divide the country up in three parts with one area for Shiites, another Kurds etc. I personally don't agree with that but at least he is putting something out there besides "stay the course." I would love it of a reporter asked Bush what his plan for getting out of Iraq was. They have yet to provide anything.

12. The DEMS have a proven track record
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 12:35 PM by DoYouEverWonder
When Clinton was in charge the DEMS had no prolbem running the country so we wouldn't even be OCCUPYING IRAQ at this point.

However, my 13 year old could come up with a better plan to run Iraq, even after Bush has done everything he can to destroy the place.

14. Of course, the administration is under no obligation to enact any plan.
I think Dean put it best on Face the Nation this morning (I cut and pasted this from another thread on the greatest page):

On the Iraq War:

A Democratic Congress Will be a "Positive Influence"

"The president will still be in charge of foreign policy and the military so the influence of a Democratic Congress will be I think a positive influence but I don't imagine that we're suddenly gonna force the President to reverse his course. We don't have the ability to do that, but I think we will put some pressure on him to have some benchmarks, some timetables, and a real plan other than stay the course. What you'll see happen is the Iraqis will finally get down to the business of a political settlement. Right now, they are basically using our troops so that each folks', each one of their different parties can get advantage hoping that we will be there long enough so they can take advantage. That puts our guys in the middle, and our troops are great and they don't deserve that. They deserve to be served better by their civilian leadership.

"One of the things democrats believe if we should take over and if we eventually take back the presidency is that we are going to need to leave a force of special operations folks in the Middle East. Not in Iraq, but on the periphery of Iraq so that we can deal with terrorism in a timely manner. We don't believe having, since the President chose to send us there and has created conditions of terrorism in Iraq where there were none there before, we don't believe now that we can suddenly pull everybody out. We would like to bring as many people home as possible as fast as possible, but most of the Democrats that I know believe that we are going to have to leave a special operations force in the Middle East in order to deal with the terrorist situation."

"We need political leaders that are going to make decisions. Tough decisions and smart decisions."

I like a combination of the Murtha plan (to handle the military aspects) and the Biden plan (to handle the diplomacy).

20. I raged about this last night. Are Republicans paid by the talking point?
If I hear one more GOP politician utter "cut and run" or read one more transcript with that phrase I'm going to hurl. My local paper published an election guide yesterday. Right after Dr. Bob Bowman's outline (i.e. PLAN!) for getting out of Iraq, there is a response from Dave Weldon saying all Democrats, "including my opponent" just want to cut and run.

GIVE ME A BREAK!
