Scwarzenegger to NAACP: 'Do not judge me as a Republican...'
I hope people do look at his accomplishment--the ones back before the special election when he thought he was popular because that is surely how he will behave if he wins the regular election and doesn't have to face voters again.

Governor asks NAACP not to judge him as Republican

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is asking voters from California's N-double-A-C-P not to judge him as a Republican.

The governor spoke to a gathering of several hundred attending the civil rights group's state convention in downtown Oakland today.

He asked the group to look beyond his party affiliation and instead focus on his accomplishments.

Schwarzenegger mostly ignored his opponent -- state Treasurer Phil Angelides -- during the lunchtime speech.

Angelides addressed the same group yesterday. He criticized the governor for not supporting affirmative action and for vetoing gun control measures.

3. Maybe he is the 'new' type of guy running now.
They are not thinking in the same track as the ones in power. I am voting Dem but I think even they are off the mark some what. People have to change to keep up with a modern world and this GOP is not doing it and I am not sure about the Dem on some things. Just maybe some of these people who were not in to govt. can do things in a better way. The East coast used to be the leader in most things in this country but I think the new ways of the West are the things we will be looking at in days to come.

5. If he doesn't want to be judged as a republican
1. He should stop acting like one. That's what Joe Lieberman is doing wrong.
2. Stop being one.

If a duck doesn't want to be judged as being a duck, it has to stop walking, quacking etc. like a duck.

11. But a duck will always be a duck, no matter how hard it tries to be otherwise
Just like Ahnuld will always be a dumbass Republican puppet, no matter what shade of lipstick he wears.

6. I agree that the West is the future, but Arnie?
He'd wear a white suit and eat young seals if the Polar Bear vote would swing an election. He's a chameleon without conscience who'll do anything and whore with anybody to get and stay elected. I'd rather he'd stuck to his principles (so the Californians could kick him out) rather than shift and swing and simper. If he's really not a big tough Republican, then why was he talking like one when that was popular? When his numbers sank to GWB's levels, suddenly he's a Democrat? Now he's a Democrat? Now that GWB's unpopular, he doesn't want to so much as speak his name when before they were so BFF.
