WAL-MART FIRES PRODUCER OF RACIST TENNESSEE FORD AD...
WASHINGTON - A prominent Republican political consultant severed his ties with Wal-Mart on Friday night, forced to resign in fallout from a controversial political ad in Tennessee's Senate campaign.

In submitting his resignation, Terry Nelson said Wal-Mart had "come under political pressure from liberal special interest groups" as well as labor unions. "It's unfortunate that this pressure has had an impact on Wal-Mart."

Nelson's resignation letter to Wal-Mart executive Leslie Dach said he was ending his ties with the company at its request. Not long afterward, WalMart claimed credit for Nelson's departure, saying it had threatened to air radio and television commercials demanding his dismissal.

Harold Ford; "They want to scare people about me," he said of the Republicans behind the commercial. "You have to ask them about race. I don't focus on those things."

2. No, Wal-Mart started seeing the race card being put on their name - it was
a business decision to distance themselves from the GOP to not lose money, pure and simple.

5. I don't like Wal-Mart but
I think it's great news if they are forced to do the right thing by the threat of losing money.

8. Then why won't people threaten Walmert with boycotts to increase the minimum wage?
Again I marvel that people will threaten Walmart with boycotts to get rid of a racist commercial maker, but why won't people boycott Walmart to get much needed progressive legislation through congress? The people who threatened Walmart could get a 10 dollar minimum wage if they really wanted to.

9. Because
Racial solidarity is much more popular than class solidarity. Sad but true.
