See George lie.

Lie, George, lie.

See Dick hunch.

Hunch, Dick, hunch.

Just like Frankenstein!

Or Frankenstein's Monster.

Hunch, Monster, hunch!

Hunch like Dick!

Please, PLEASE don't get me started. I could be here all night with this.

7. yes!
write it! someone ought to be able to publish it. or, send it to some website were you can post it.
or post here ... it sounds like it be a good book!

might even make it to the quill award. (wonder if mary matalin grovelled when she had to announce al gore as the winner of the quill award for politics... i had it on mute until i saw that he had been chosen for the award-right after that she stepped away from the microphone and the person accepting the award for gore read a prepared statement by him).

12. OK, I will. As long as you send me a PM as a reminder
sometime in the next few days. Because I forget things.

Can you draw? If so, we might have the genesis of a collaboration here.

14. hi! what a wonderful link ...
and of course Bush has seen to it and made doubly sure that the America described in the link as,

"The books took their name from the series' lead characters who, with a dog named Spot and a kitten named Puff, inhabited a nostalgic, innocent American landscape of white picket fences and neighborliness."

bush has seen to it that that nostalgic, innocent American landscape of white picket fences and neighborliness is currently a divided one. no longer nostalgic, no longer innocent, and no longer the one of white picket fences...except for only the very few.

21. That article brought back many great memories!
Sure, people can complain about all kinds of things about Dick and Jane books...but the generations that used them were the most well read this nation has ever produced. It all started w/Dick and Jane Readers...:)

28. "A Heck of a Job, Calvin Trillin" -- some Amazon book reviews sure to inspire...
... both laughter and tears.

Amazon has some great reviews posted on their site. The ones for Trillin's works are as humorous as Trillin himself. Guaranteed to be worth the time. Enjoy!

http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/1400065569/ref=s9_asin_image_3/102-1766734-5767334

From the book:
’Cause government’s the problem, lads,
Americans would all do well to shun it.
Yes, government’s the problem, lads.
At least it is when we’re the ones who run it.

And here's a review posted at Amazon:

141 of 153 people found the following review helpful:
Our nation's second term-ite, June 1, 2006
Reviewer: Jon Hunt (Old Greenwich, Ct. USA) - See all my reviews

      The president's a perfect foil
For author Calvin Trillin.
The nation's in a big turmoil
Thanks to our dimwit villain.

But to the rescue comes "C. T."
Who sheds some light on "Dub-ya".
Each page evokes a firm "teehee"
And will the right way rub ya.

His commentary lights upon
Those Bushies lacking shtick.
There's Mushroom Cloud and Orange John
And Five Deferments Dick.

Yet our commander is the one
That Trillin writes the most of.
It could be said that when he's done
The president's made toast of.

I highly recommend this work
For wit that's nicely offered.
And in '09 that White House jerk
Is goin' home to Crawford.

lots more...
