1. I don't trust Oprah
I'd love for her to smack him down, but don't trust her to do it.

to get out the truth, given her huge following.

3. So far, he hasn't been taken to task; from what I've heard so far
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 03:27 PM by 8_year_nightmare
he's being asked softball questions. Some guy stood up to complain that pundits are either to the far right or far left (he mentioned "the MSNBC fellow" but didn't name KO); he doesn't want to be told what to believe, he can decide for himself.

Then a black man stood up to completely defend O'Reilly (which was completely unnecessary, imo, given that the first guy's comments weren't slamming O'Reilly).

This is a horrible show. Bill is geting away with about 3 lies a minute and now he just got a huge applause for wanting to waterboard people.

I can no longer watch.

11. Just turned it off. Oprah has become such a disappointment.
So far she has let him skate on every issue, the audience is salted with Dildoheads who believe that O'Lielly walks on water and this whole show is a waste of time.

I used to be an Oprah fan, never again. The only thing needed to let evil like O'Lielly flourish is to give him an unfettered hour of "Town Hall" TV.

13. It was totally disgusting.
I respect Oprah for all the good work she does, and the money she has spent, on helping people around the world...but this is just beyond brutal. It is nothing but Fox plants, buttering up Bill, and a lone voice or two who oppose him...and whom he shouts down. Oprah is servile, this is revolting, and I want to hit something.

Aargh, to say the least.

15. It was terrible....
he was allowed to interrupt the *two* people who tried to challenge him. They couldn't even get a whole sentence out of their mouths. I wanted Oprah to yell, "Cut his mike!"

I had the feeling that she felt pressured to give "the other side" and sat there and let him spew his crap without questioning him much at all.

Why, I wonder, did she ask at her website for people to send in questions?

21. I have to say....
because of that show, for the first time - I *really* wonder if Rove isn't correct about the outcome of the next election (that they'll win). People are blinded under the umbrella of what they call "conservatism" which is interpreted as righteousness and all things good and decent, not realizing the lie that it is.

38. Now that's a scary thought.
That, plus the thought of Rove's "math" remark, do make me wonder -- pardon me -- how big their cahoonas could possibly get.

On the other hand, the poll numbers aren't so accommodating to the Rethugs to steal the votes this time around. What goes up must come down, & this administration's rhetoric & manipulations have grown very old. I'm cautiously hopeful.

20. Bill-O is always a fixed fight
remember, he tapes his show. People think it's live. It's not. And it's carefully edited to limit his idiocies.
He wouldn't have appeared on Oprah if he hadn't packed the audience with his flacks.
It's like one of Bush's infommercials. People "spontaneously" praising and asking scripted questions.
Meaningless.
Bill-O, like Bush, is a coward. He just plays the straight-talkin' tough Irish kid from the streets.
In reality, he's a pampered kid from the upper middle-class who's about as tough as a marshmallow. It's all facade.
Humpty-Dumpty.

You've literally hit the nail on the head with this:

"Bill-O, like Bush, is a coward. He just plays the straight-talkin' tough Irish kid from the streets. In reality, he's a pampered kid from the upper middle-class who's about as tough as a marshmallow. It's all facade. Humpty-Dumpty." :headbang: :yourock:

I watched Oprah earlier this morning and was so disgusted by his display and Oprah not even trying to do anything to dispute the spewage coming out of his mouth, I almost turned it off.

What really frightened me though was when Bill-O went on his diatribe about waterboarding and then the audience applauded.

I live in the Chicago area, these people are my "neighbors". It literally sent a chill up my spine.

What, in God's name, has this country become? Are they so frightened of the boogeyman that they have collectively lost their minds???

If the Dems don't win; or perhaps I should say, not allowed to win, a majority in at least one House of Congress on November 7th, myself and Mr. Wonderful will seriously begin thinking about returning to his hometown in Ireland.

We were planning on retiring there, but if we have to go sooner rather than not get there at all, so be it.

:scared: :scared:

23. FWIW, Rosie O'Donnell stood up to him on The View this week
I was flipping through the channels and caught a minute or so and saw her standing up to that creep (O'Reilly, not Walters). I couldn't stand to watch it at the time, but after seeing this thread I searched Google and found this summary and video of his appearance on The View. Scroll down to see the video:

raising money for the loser Buchard who is trying to unseat our wonderful Senator Debbie Stabenow. I knew that there was something fishy about Oprah sometimes. I don't want to judge her by the company she keeps but......I wonder. I personally watch Ellen Degeneres instead of Oprah.

33. After his book
I lost all enthusiasm for them. It was one of those pull yourself up by your bootstraps mantras. I saw him on Larry King, blech. That was years ago. Seems he's just pulled Oprah more and more into that line of thinking. Of course, she's always been weird that way. I remember her refusing to help a family member who smoked when she was eating herself into heart disease.

I could only watch 2 segments. Once that Foox worhipper got up and slammed the other guy for believing NYT, LAT (He never said he did), and that Fox is the only one to ask the right questions (ala Cavuto: How will Democrats destroy America?) is Fox News. I thought I would throw something. I can't be this red faced violent. I had to turn it off!:puke:

Whatever happened to the Oprah that championed people, put the roaches on stage, shined the light on them and watched them scurry away back in the 80s and early 90s?
