Easy Guide To Stealing Elections - something to send to your representatives?
I just got this in my email:

"Many people have asked for it so that the government will have to deal with it. So here it is: a guide to stealing an election that uses electronic voting machines written by Jon Stokes over at Arstechnica. From the article: "In all this time, I've yet to find a good way to convey to the non-technical public how well and truly screwed up we presently are, six years after the Florida recount. So now it's time to hit the panic button: In this article, I'm going to show you how to steal an election.""

Here is the guide:

1. damn this is shocking!
even to jaded old me!

<snip>

Along the way, I'll also show you just how many different hands touch these electronic voting machines before and after a vote is cast, and I'll lay out just how vulnerable a DRE-based elections system is to what e-voting researchers have dubbed "wholesale fraud," i.e., the ability of an individual or a very small group to steal an entire election by making subtle changes in the right places.

...or just haven't been angry in a while, be sure to see Unprecedented: The 2000 Presidential Election - http://imdb.com/title/tt0346091/

Edit: I guess the "200 Presidential Election" would've been a little before video.

Everyone should see this.

Dial-Up users may have problem with post#9 and the time it takes. How easy the theft is has been ignored or misunderstood by too many.

Thanks.

14. I took one year of comp math in HS
I could make a program to steal an election in 2-3 hours, with absolutely no way to tell without consulting the code. It would be ridiculously easy for a professional programmer to do the same. In fact, any idiot could do it, if he is motivated enough. Of course, since the code is proprietary, the government legally cannot look at it without a warrant, which the government would never seek because - surprise! - the companies favor the GOP.
