List of Members of 109th Congress Being Looked at by DoJ
10-26-2006
Updated: 10-26-2006

The chart appeared in the October 26th, addition of Roll Call. Add Rep. Katherine Harris (R-FL) to the list, and there are 18 current or former members of this Congress who have been or are under federal investigation.

I would bet that this list will get longer soon...yes

... floating around, which cross-references:

1. GOP House and Senate members in

2. States where their replacement - should they be forced to step down - would be picked by a Dem Governor (or Dem-leaning electorate), as

3. Insurance against stolen elections.

12. As a "fer instance"...
Edited on Thu Oct-26-06 08:06 PM by IdesOfOctober
... take the example of Virginia.

If, speaking strictly hypothetically, of course:

1. A grand jury has heard evidence involving allegations of felonious conduct by George Allen; and

2. George Allen were to "win" the election in Virginia; but

3. Indictments were to be handed down sometime between November 8th and January 3rd; then

4. An Allen resignation from the Senate would lead to

5. A temporary Senate appointment, made by the Virginia Governor, Democrat Tim Kaine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Kaine

Now, it just so happens that the so-called "Friends of George Allen" include none other than Jack Abramoff - and John Warner (the Commonwealth's senior Senator) should really probably think about pulling those joint ads he's been running with Georgie Boy:

Friends of George Allen FEC filings: http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/com_detail/C00344853/

Friends of George Allen whose last names begin with A, as in Abramoff: http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/com_ind/C00344853/1/A/

Ides

P.S. The hypothetical ends with an enormous happily-ever-after if: 6. Tim Kaine were to appoint Mark Warner to fill George Allen's vacated seat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Warner

; )

Stranger things...

29. OMG! Is such a thing possible??? Is that why Warner declined...
to run???? Please G_d, let it be true!!!! Wouldn't that be the most absolutely wonderful thing to have happened in Virginia since I don't know when!!!! Please tell me that that is a possibility! I'll keep praying!

... then Mark Warner gets appointed by Kaine.

Elegant scenario, huh?

33. Dream Scenario...
... but with Warner running ads endorsing Webb, would he accept an appointment from his former Lt. Gov., Tim Kaine?

- Dave

P.S. Does Warner want the added baggage of Senate votes, should he either: (1) jump in late in the presidential primaries; or (2) make himself available for the Veepstakes?
