Bush suggests IRAQ ATTACKED US on 9/11
Edited on Thu Oct-26-06 02:11 PM by Julius Civitatus
Via Atrios and the Prospect, we get this gem from today's hour-long meeting between Bush and his media sycophants:

http://www.prospect.org/horsesmouth/2006/10/post_411.html#014151

"My attitude about our – look, I'm into campaigning out there: People want to know, can you win? That's what they want to know. I mean, there's – look, there's some 25 percent or so that want us to get out, shouldn't have been out there in the first place – and that's fine. They're wrong. But you can understand why they feel that way. They just don't believe in war, and – at any cost. I believe when you get attacked and somebody declares war on you, you fight back. And that's what we're doing."

When did Iraq attack us?
When did Iraq declare war on us?
What the f*ck is he talking about now?

(on edit)

He also claims 25% wants to get out of Iraq. Another lie.
It's over 55% now.

1. Well, 15 out of the 19 hijackers were Iraqi, right?
:sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

Oh, wait, they were actually Saudi. Never mind. Of course, they've got even more oil than Iraq, so I suppose we could always attack them, too... :sarcasm:

3. In his small little confused mind,
he is confusing fantasy with reality. His main mission as pResident in 2000 was to finish the war his poppy started and to get Saddam for he had made a threat against the old man. It's the underachiever one upping the parent.

6. The BRAZEN CHUTZPAH of these people is unbelievable
Edited on Thu Oct-26-06 02:40 PM by Julius Civitatus
Earlier this week he said he's never ever been for "staying the course."

Now he brings back the LIE that Iraq attacked us on 9/11, with the added twist of claiming Iraq "declared war on us."

Unbelievable!

15. I agree....
I subscribe to the newsmax.com newsletter just to see what the right-wing propagandists are up to, and recently I received this. Notice that its no longer Muslim extremists that we have to fear, according to them it seems to be Muslims in general:

"Dear Newsmax Reader,

Liberals are so afraid of offending Muslims that they are denying these facts which are staring us in the face:

Radical Muslims the world over are engaged in an openly declared Holy War or Jihad against the West.
This Jihad is a grave danger to our nation and to all of Western civilization.
The Jihad challenges every facet of American life. Its agenda includes the purposeful and systematic dismantling of all aspects of our culture. It hopes ultimately to impose Sharia law on the U.S., replacing our law with provisions such as the stoning of adulterous women and cutting off thieves' hands.
The extent of the threat is not being effectively and truthfully communicated to the American public.

These are the reasons my organization is now sponsoring Jihad Watch, an information and action campaign to alert the American people to the real threat of the Muslim jihad, and what needs to be done to make our country and our civilization secure."

19. What I find disturbing
Edited on Thu Oct-26-06 02:53 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
is that right-wingers actually believe that Muslim extremists can take over the US and impose their laws on us when Germany couldn;t do it, Russia couldn't so it, and the English couldn't do it.

If they are so patriotic and think American is so great, why the hell would they be worrying about being taken over by guys half a world away who are equipped with little beyond a kitchen-made bomb, a few bottle-rockets, and a bunch of small arms?

If the threat of nuclear annihilation from thousands of missiles did not stop America, why would a single nuke in a briefcase do it?

Do they really think America would just bow down to these guys if they invaded us? Puh-leeease.

13. Bush reminds me sometimes of George IV, the Prince Regent
who would regale visitors with stores of his adventures with Wellington, which of course never happened. One night at a dinner party honoring Wellington, George began telling how he had been at Waterloo, fought bravely and led his troops to victory. He finished by saying to Wellington something along the lines of 'isn't that so Wellington'. Everyone at the party, within hearing range of this wondered how Wellington was going to respond to this outrageous falsehood. Wellington, however, only replied that it had been a close run thing. I swear that Bush actually believes some of the tripe he spouts, just like the Prince Regent.

But, hey, that's just me. I'm not some bellicose prancing POS who wanted to get his war on.

20. Interesting conflation.
"When you are attacked and someone declaires war on you"...

Problem is, those are two separate entities. So "technically" speaking, it's "technically" true. But the shameless conflating of the two plays right to their base of morons that continue to believe to this day Iraq attacked us on 9/11.

Disgusting.

33. Iraq invasion was equivalent of invading Russia after Pearl Harbor.
Thank dog Bush wasn't in charge in 1941; else we'd all be speaking German.

Russia was arch-enemy of Japan and Germany; and so was, begrudgingly, our ally in WW2.

Iraq was arch-enemy of al Qaeda and the Taliban; so invading Iraq and removing Saddam was basically doing Osama's work for him. Rather than having a stable, secular Iraq, we now have chaos and an real reason for Muslims to hate us.
