November surprise. Saddam to get sentenced on Nov. 5
I heard that Saddam Hussein will get either a verdict in his trial and or sentenced on November 5.

That means it comes 2 days before the election. Your views?

I also say the Democrats take 7 senate positions and 30 house positions. That appears what former Senator Daschle had said a few days ago.

Personally, I think bringing Saddam back into the spotlight again three years after his capture will only serve to remind most voters how long we've been there and how slowly things are going.

4. I wonder what the verdict will be?
"First we give him a fair trial, then we hang him."

5. My view is that most Americans don't care and it will be a reminder
of the mess in Iraq.

7. As I said before
A guilty verdict for Hussein will result this collective response from America:

"Yeah. So?"

8. Let's see, they're 9 or 10 hours ahead of us timewise
Which means "SADDAM FOUND GUILTY. SENTENCED TO DEATH BY PUBLIC HANGING." will be all over the Sunday news programs.

9. Methinks the Sunnis will go totally ballistic if Saddam is executed. . .
They'll regard him as a martyr, especially around Tikrit. He's one of their tribe.

10. No one even cares about Saddam anyway.
I hope it reminds voters that Iraq is a mess and Osama is still out there somewhere. I think Iraq is so f****d up that even Saddam would not want it back!

11. Irrelevant at this point.
It's too late. The Repukes are in the toaster and are getting crispier every day.

This event will be a non-starter, and may even work against the Repukes as it may highlight the fact that OBL is still free.

13. Zzzzzzz....
My views?

OK, here you go. I guess we'll be able to pull our troops from Iraq then, right? I mean, regime change was the goal of the invasion of Iraq. And so now Bush will really be able to say "Mission Accomplished."

Of course, since the invasion everybody in the world, except a few right-wingers dwelling in La-La Land, realizes that the war on Iraq has nothing to do with fighting terrorism, and in fact has actually made the terrorists stronger and more numerous.

For the rest of us, the conviction of Saddam Hussein is a reminder of the Bush administration's failure to catch Osama bin Laden, and an exclamation point on the huge waste of resources and lives to go after an insignificant target.

So my response, and that of most Americans, will be "BFD."

16. How can they pick a sentencing date when the trial is still going on?
It's a rhetorical question, of course.
