"Teach them how to do solar power; they've got plenty of sun over there"
A caller to NPR just now concerning Iran's desire for a nuclear program. She also said that we need to figure out this problem between the Sunnis and the Shiites - "what was it about Mohammed who was the 'priest' of that religion that makes them fight each other. We really need to explore that". :silly:

Painful.

An email from a more enlightened individual claims that Iraq is the central front of the war on terror but no one asks him to explain exactly how it came to be that way.

And Bush said yesterday "I'm accountable" - ACCOUNTABLE for what?? No one bothered to ask him that.

Anyway - good discussion about Iraq on the Diane Rhem show, neocon elite Fred Kagan is one of her guests (Bush cheerleader of course).

1. Gee, I forget where in the bible it says
to go get in a jet fighter and drop a nuke on your enemies ... I guess that the bomb should have "The Other Cheek" on it ...

2. Maybe she can ask the Protestants and Catholics in Ireland about
religious 'wars'.

3. Well she's right.

She sounds pretty ignorant, but she's right about their nuke program -- for a nation that already has a large established base of reactors continued nuclear power investments may make sense, financially if not environmentally.

But they do have plenty of sun, and a good amount of wind, and there is nothing wrong with pointing that out. Of course, so do we but...

And given the way their population is distributed their dollars and labor and research would be better invested in a nice decentralized renewable electricity program. I'm not saying one way or another whether their nuke program is a front for weapons development, but from a pure energy policy perspective they are missing an opportunity if they do not harness their natural renewables.
