PBS Frontline: Return of the Taliban -- "MUST SEE" TV
    FRONTLINE: Return of the Taliban

Nearly five years after the Taliban were toppled, Al Qaeda and the Taliban continue to use Pakistan as a de facto base, virtually unchallenged and far out of America's reach.

Wow, was this a good, frightening program. Definitely a must see. Basically, it appears that the Taliban are taking over in the mountainous regions of Pakistan, from which they're launching their retaking of Afghanistan -- and gaining power within Pakistan, a nuclear nation.

More info and online stream of the program can be found on the PBS website above. It should be available for download from the usual sources sometime soon.

2. I have already seen it. Truly disturbing but at least
the editors of "Frontline" lay it out for you. I have said it many times that "Frontline" was putting some of the best investigative broadcast journalism out there for people to watch. Only question is "Do they actually watch?"

I honestly don't believe that even "informed" people are aware of how dangerous and precarious the U.S. relationship with Pakistan is. Pakistan is not the type of ally that will stab you in the back after he kisses you but will stab you in the chest AS he f___s you.

Not only are the Taliban taking over the tribal regions of Pakistan they are doing it with remarkable ease but right under the nose of the Pakistan government. One could make the argument that if the U.S. becomes part of a truly large war in the world, Pakistan will be "Ground Zero".

Name another network or cable news outfit that has put out anything else of this quality and integrity.

3. Name another network...

No can do. This program was truly revelatory.

Though I need to read the recent Newsweek "Losing Afghanistan" article to see if it covered any of the points from the program. Other than that, I haven't heard too much in the mainstream news about how bad things have gotten in Afghanistan and the Waziristan safe havens in Pakistan.

4. Thank you. People who can understand this will also understand
that demonstrating the ability to carry out mass murder, as the neocons have done, is not an effective strategy. See also "Taliban Country" to understand how the US forces are turning the people of Afghanistan back into supporters of the Taliban. You can see most of it here: http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=17451
