PARIS OFF THE ISLAND FIRST

IF TV's "Survivor" were cast with headline-hogging celebrities, whom would Americans vote off first? Paris Hilton, of course! Parade magazine's annual celebrity poll found 35 percent of its readers would send the overprivileged heiress packing, followed by President Bush with 33 percent, Tom Cruise with 12 percent, Britney Spears with 9 percent and Jessica Simpson with 7 percent. Parade's respondents crowned Oprah Winfrey as the "smartest celebrity" and said "Pirates of the Caribbean" babe Keira Knightley was the young actress "most likely to succeed." The poll also proclaimed Matthew McConaughey the best-dressed actor and Halle Berry best-dressed actress. George Clooney won "friendliest/nicest actor" and Julia Roberts won "friendliest/nicest" actress.

1. That's just stupid
Vote her off first so she can go back to her luxury lifestyle and say "That's hot" to everything?

Further proof that Americans are idiots, and that the microcosm of Reality Shows are even dumber.

She should be second to last off the island.

2. umm..that's the way Survivor works
I'm not a fan but have seen it when staying at my brother's house.

"Getting voted off" means you lose the chance to win the big money -- it's like losing in a Darwinian sense, or being declared the' weakest link'.

It's trivia you probably never needed to know, however.
:hi:

3. I know what I'm talking about
She doesn't ~need~ the money!

It'd be much more entertaining to watch her suffer through bites, not shaving her legs, living in tents, etc etc etc

4. my 1st reaction: Paris and W = funny TV... but then i came to my senses
If I was stuck on an island with paris, W, and tom cruise.... I would find it humorous for about an hour.... then I would desperately be trying to kill myself (or at least get voted off, quickly).

6. And Brittney and Jessica
An hour? I'd take one look, find a cliff and jump.

Who made up this list anyway.

7. If Parade's mid-America demographic finds Shrub this unlikeable

it's a good sign. Similar to why we monitor the moods of sL-IMUS's white male demographic. It's very concrete, not any make-em-suffer hypothetical.

For example, check out their readers' picks for best comedy team, all WAY BACK in time:

http://www.parade.com/articles/editions/2005/edition_12-25-2005/Comedy_Team

In our Oct. 23 issue, we asked readers to tell us who they thought was the most dynamic comedy duo ever. Nearly 7,000 of you replied. Here are your favorites:

1. Laurel & Hardy
The slapstick comedy team made films from the 1920s until 1950.

2. Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz
Married in real life, their show I Love Lucy ruled TV in the 1950s.

3. Abbott & Costello
The funnymen starred on stage, in films and on TV for three decades.

4. Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis
From nightclubs to films, they slayed us for 10 years, until 1956.

5. George Burns & Gracie Allen
Married 38 years, they conquered stage, radio and TV.

You also loved... The top write-in votes went to:

1. Jackie Gleason & Art Carney

2. Doris Day & Rock Hudson
