Those are not "rabbit ears." Those are cuckold's horns, and that little gesture means that the person whose head is being, uh, "decorated" that way is being cuckolded by his wife.

The Sunday version of the otherwise delightful comic strip "Fox Trot" has as its opening panel an image of all the Fox family members giving each other the horns. Obviously the person who draws "Fox Trot" doesn't know what the gesture means either.
