LONDON (Reuters) - A majority of Britons feel their troops should be withdrawn from Iraq sooner rather than later, two opinion polls showed on Tuesday.

An ICM poll for the Guardian found more than 60 percent of Britons wanted the troops to be pulled out this year, while 45 percent believed the withdrawal should occur immediately.

Only 30 percent supported the stance of Prime Minister Tony Blair, U.S. President George W. Bush's closest ally on Iraq, that British forces must stay until their Iraqi counterparts were able to provide security for the country on their own.

Britain has 7,200 troops in Iraq, mainly in the south.

7,200 troops left in Iraq from their initial 35,000 troops. And our leaders are talking about sending more.

1. What I've heard today was they want them all out by the end of THIS year!
I'm glad the Brits are finally turning on Shrub andhis stupidity, butI worry about OUR soldiers having to pick up the slack. They already have a terrible situation on their hands.

2. Dude, the Brits didn't have to turn on shrub.
They were never with him in the first place. Tony Blair has fucked himself over politically via his little adventure wih Georgie. Going to Iraq was never a popular move over here in the first place.

3. Oh I know lots of them weren't, but it seems a whole lot more
have joined the anti crowd lately. I also knowBlair screwed himself by being buddy buddy with Shrub. Too bad. Maybe they can retire somewhere together.
