What do you think is Bush's greatest weakness?
For me his inability to ever admit failure or apologize.

18. Ooh. I like that answer!
I hope the technological ground has shifted under these people so that they won't be able to get away with simply co-opting the mainstream media in order to get their way, as they did for the first few years of his presidency.

Welcome to DU! :hi:

anyone read "Bush on the Couch"? the guy is genuinely sociopathic. i think he is dyslexic, but not as dumb as he acts (unfortunately--i'd rather have a moron figurehead President than a sociopath-in-chief).

22. His unwillingness to listen to those who know more than he does.
We've had ignorant presidents before, we've had stupid presidents before but to the best of my knowledge, Bush may be the only one who simply refuses to listen to the advise of persons with far more experience than he, if it conflicts with whatever it was he wants to do.

24. yes -- didn't he drive his car into the wall of his garage in agitation?
... after Laura offered a few constructive suggestions about his speeches? As they were coming home from an event in Texas for his congressional campaign, he urged her to give him some tips, and she took this at face value and assumed that he wasn't just fishing for compliments (they had only been married a short while, so she didn't know him as well). And he got so worked up that he almost demolished the garage.

31. His insecurity...
Edited on Mon Oct-23-06 08:43 AM by Crankie Avalon
...it pours out of everything about him. Apart from his insecurity about his masculinity (and, let's face it, on that score as on so many others he has much to be insecure about), he can't bear knowing he's a mediocrity. Gifted people remind him of his mediocrity, so he ignores their counsel and instead surrounds himself with flatterers who have no wisdom or talent for anything other than flattery. A dope surrounded by other dopes isn't a formula for effective leadership. He's desparate to prove he's not the fuckup he's been all his life (failed businesses, alcoholism, drug abuse, and on and on) and is using this Supreme Court-appointed presidency as his last chance to say, "See? I was right and all you eggheads throughout my life were wrong." But, unfortunately for America, he IS a total, lifelong fuckup and is messing up as president just as badly as he's messed up at everything else in his sick, sad, pathetic life.

41. I agree. His pathological insecurity is at the root of everything else...
the lying, the boozing, the arrogance, the delusional hallucinations
about God wanting him to be President and telling him to attack Iraq..you name it, I think it comes from his insecurity.

32. His self-confidence is a house of cards
As long as he's surrounded by yes-men he gets by. But he needs others to constantly tell him he's right, otherwise he spirals into depression and bad temper. That's why everyone around him tries so hard to keep bad news from him, even going so far as to tell others what they can and can't tell him, and why he's so given to accepting and making excuses for not seeing reality.

So arrogant, he thinks he can ignor any law he doesn't like.

So arrogant, he insists on staying the course in Iraq rather than admit a mistake.

So arrogant, he thinks he will never be charged with breaking the laws orget caught and punished.
