German Chancellor Schroeder: About Bush being a fundie nut...
Edited on Sat Oct-21-06 10:25 PM by originalpckelly
"We rightly criticize that in most Islamic states, the role of religion for society and the character of the rule of law are not clearly separated," Schroeder wrote. "But we fail to recognize that in the USA, the Christian fundamentalists and their interpretation of the Bible have similar tendencies."

Uh oh, the fundies won't like that. We are living in a nation with people who have the same goal as al-Qaeda, they just believe in a different religion. They wish to have a theocratic state; one which will enslave the American people, much in the same way the Taliban did to Afghanistan. They have carried out terrorist attacks upon Americans on American soil, and have killed police officers in the process of killing civilians. My friends, the war on terrorism is not solely limited to those across the oceans, but those here at home. They have shown themselves to be as dangerous as al-Qaeda. They are enemies of religious freedom, because they seek to force all Christians to believe in their particular sect, as well as the semi-secular nature of our government. We must recognize this threat, one we may be to shy to speak of, but one that grows daily. I deeply fear the actions of these Christian extremist terrorists, and I fear how many innocent American lives they may take.

You know the threat. Here we have seen a foreigner reflect upon us, when we ourselves should be doing that.

2. We probably haven't thought about it...
but these religious extremists in our own country are just as threatening to the stability of our nation.

5. I don't want to sound anti-religion...
I am anti-extremist, whether Muslims or Christians.

7. It's not anti-religion to be pro-separation of Church and State.
Actually, it's pro-religion, because it protects ALL religions.

11. Every time the "church" and government become entangled,
both suffer.
The separation of church and state protects both. The dumbass fundies don't care. They think that they are, somehow, too smart, to modern, to be struck down by the same mechanism that has operated since forever.

That "perfect crime" has never been pulled off successfully and it won't be this time, at least for any substantial amount of time.

"Revealed truth" and sciencific truth, in the broadest sense of the word, cannot co-exist.

8. I love God... I believe, without a doubt, Jesus was the Son of God...
and I know these people are servants of the Devil. They don't follow any God other than Money and they don't care about anything but wealth and power. They twist the minds of the ignorant and greedy to suit their own ends and they bow down like demons to serve their dark Lord. I would rather see the name of Jesus be outlawed than used to such a wicked end... If they can't follow God, then they shouldn't be able to use his name for their own advancement. The manipulation of religion is a blight on humanity and against God. These people are apostates and beyond wicked... and even though you'd have to pry my Bible out of my cold dead fingers, I wouldn't blame the world one bit for turning against those in my faith who abuse the Word of God.

10. I do agree
but I would never not PROCLAIM THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS no matter what. There will be a battle between kind progressive Christians and the fascist fundie sectarian weirdies. We will prevail. We're of the Light. We're not being used by the Darkness.

16. Well, we better get to that battle pretty damn soon...
otherwise, we'll be persecuted right alongside the "bad" Christians. If we ever plan on engaging, now is the time because the world is getting pretty damn fed up with our vacillating. They know damn well we're good people but history is full of stories where good people are butchered right alongside the bad. Like I said, you'll have to pry my Bible out from my cold dead fingers but I understand the hatred and a big part of me feels the same outrage. If they outlaw the name of the our Lord, I'll gladly go to prison or to the lions, that is the Christians duty. How many times was Paul stoned for his refusal to give up proclaiming his faith? How long did he rot in prison? How excruciating was his death? This is the Christians reward on earth... not wealth and a life of ease.

We are not called to take our rewards from the Earth and we are not bound by any laws of Man that contradict the laws given to us by God. God doesn't care if we set the speed limit at 55 or 65 but the second we take up a sword to kill or the minute we wed ourselves to Christ by taking his name for our own vanity, that is the hour of our judgment. If you're prepared to proclaim his name "no matter what" then we best get to doing it otherwise, judgment day is right around the corner and our epitaph's shall read, "Mene, mene, tikal, perez."

This is our God they're blaspheming and dragging through the mud... they did it once a long time ago and his followers could only stand by and watch him get beaten and murdered by self-righteous hypocrites... looks like we're doing the same thing now; in fact, if you listen hard enough, somewhere in the distance you can hear a cock crowing. It's time we knocked the rust off the Armor of God and waded into battle, it's time we blow the dust off the trumpets and prepare to rattle the walls our impregnable cities and it's time to come out of the wilderness and proclaim his name in the cities and towns. If we don't do it soon, it will be too late... not for God of course... but for us. We've got this one shot at life... this is our test, our task and we are letting it slip by like grains of sand. Our impotence and malaise is an embarrassment to God and when he judges us, he will be ashamed of who we've become. God won't have to cast us into hell, standing in front of God with that shame clearly marking our souls will be a hell far worse than anything the Devil can devise. If we're going to fight, we'd best get to doing it... otherwise, just pull up a seat and prepare to watch our Lord get massacred again, right before our impotent eyes.

17. Interestingly enough was
today's scripture I received (I get Sayings of Jesus daily):

Luke 21:5-19
5) And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, he said,6) "As for these things which you see, the days will come when there shall not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down." 7) And they asked him, "Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign when this is about to take place?" 8) And he said, "Take heed that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name, saying, `I am he!' and, `The time is at hand!' Do not go after them. 9) And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified; for this must first take place, but the end will not be at once." 10) Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; 11) there will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. 12) But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake. 13) This will be a time for you to bear testimony. 14) Settle it therefore in your minds, not to meditate beforehand how to answer; 15) for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. 16 ) You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and kinsmen and friends, and some of you they will put to death; 17) you will be hated by all for my name's sake. 18) But not a hair of your head will perish. 19) By your endurance you will gain your lives."

There are organizations such as DefCon and others that are liberal Christians fighting back. I can get links...later. Off to church now!

6. He's right, but the odd thing is
in Germany, the religious schools get funding from the government.

15. They get funding but I don't think that either organization bosses
the other around. Believe me Europe learned the hard way through all the religious wars how to maintain the separation.

9. Not all of us "fail to recognize" it.
Some of us have been screaming it at the top of our lungs, for years.
