Another shining example of GOP family values
Note: Malone is a former GOP City Councilman for Cincinnati. Must have graduated from the Ken Blackwell School of GOP Family Values.

Crime or punishment?
He testifies he wanted to teach - but not injure - his teenage son

BY SHARON COOLIDGE | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Former Cincinnati City Councilman Sam Malone on Wednesday defended whipping his son with a belt, explaining during his trial on a charge of domestic violence that he wanted to teach the teenager not to disrespect authority.

During three hours of testimony, Malone said at least three times that he was disappointed - not angry - at his 14-year-old son for disrespecting a teacher during a school field trip to Paramount's Kings Island on May 13.

"I told (my son), and he probably didn't believe me, that it hurt me more than it hurt him," Malone said.

Photographs taken at the hospital and introduced into evidence show welts on the teen's arms, legs, chest and buttocks...

"then, of course, its ok to hate America and plot terrorist acts against your own country"

2. If someone else did it the City Councilman would demand that
the person be jailed and lose his children. Since it was a bigshot GOPer, NOTHING will EVER come of it, case closed. If it had been a regular Joe or jane, the bail would be about $100,000.00...

3. I have news for that freak.. he hurt his son a whole lot more INSIDE
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 07:47 AM by SoCalDem
and he should not be surprised if his son grows to hate him.. Having a 14 year old hate you can pretty much make life miserable for a whole family.

A swat now and then on a diaper of a toddler..to keep them from doing something dangerous is ONE thing, but whipping/beating/abusing kids is just a nasty thing to do..especially when they are teens..

I know how awful inside you feel when a parent beats you. My father used anything he could grab quickly.. a belt, a yardstick, the butt of a kitchen knife, a bamboo-fishing pole.. you name it. You start thinking of ways to escape the house, and the sooner the better.. Teens who hate to be home, find other places of refuge. I avoided the pitfalls, but times are different.. It;s a dangerous world outside.. Kids should not have to fear being in their own homes:cry:

4. More excerpts from the article
" 'This wasn't a butt-whupping, this was more than a simple teaching moment," Murray told the judge in closing arguments. "What you have and what you'll be able to find is that Sam Malone committed domestic violence'...

"She repeatedly pointed out that Malone was a trained boxer, was a power lifter and had wrestled in high school...

""There's pain, that's the idea, that's the teaching element that's involved here," Arenstein said. "It may not be the way I raise my child or the way you raise yours, but to some fathers in this community, it's the only way to raise their child...

""He started whipping me with a belt, he had it wrapped double on his hand," the teenager said. "He kept on hitting me, and I fell over, and he kept on hitting me...

"The two grappled, with Malone gripping the teen in a headlock. He said they fell and he hit his son four more times."

Yeah, that'll teach him a lesson, you bully!

5. The sentence I'd like to see this candy ass get---
"The convict shall be placed alone in a room with the victim for 30 minutes. The convict shall be handcuffed to an immovable object, and the victim shall be given the belt he was whipped with." I'm sure that it will hurt the victim more than it will hurt the convict.

6. GOPer was trained boxer, power lifter & wrestler; kid embarrassed him
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 08:27 AM by Divernan
Here we see that extra special OHIO GOP brand of family values. This man never married the boy's Mom. Mom died in 2002 and that's when son went to live w/dad. The kid was already failing in school, and don't you all know how FURIOUS this politician was that the kid's problems made the Councilman look bad.

Common law rulings have established that a person with training/skills in something like boxing are held to a higher standard to not injure people. Their fists are seen as deadly weapons, and they are expected to hold weaker people off and only do what is necessary to defend themselves. For this father to assault his son in the way that he did is akin to assault with a deadly weapon.

And for those readers who believe in corporal punishment, in this case, one of the welts only disappeared last month - and the assault occurred about EIGHT MONTHS ago.

No we're moving out of the blame everything evil on Hollywood phase, and moving into the blame the Evil Internets phase. The internet is a greater danger to the GOP and their corporate bosses now. The truth is their "Great Satan," as is always the case among con artists. Truth to a GOPer is like sunshine to Ann Coulter and other blood sucking ghouls.

The reason Ann looks so bad, IMO, is that she's probably about 400 years old, with the mind of a day old bat!

9. That authoritarian ass
Needs to have his ass whipped.
I think parents who belt thier kids are unable to feel empathy, they are bULLIES.they are SICK. Child abusers are a danger to humanity to the future,to peace,to social sanity, they are like a poison that fuins the future in the name of thier own fear,so are all authoritarian personalities. ALL authoritarians FEAR others getting self reliance and developing thier own capacity for decision making, So the slave or property(child) disobeying master(themself) is what these fucked up belt weilding assholes can't deal with, the fact people have thier own lives and autonomy..thier child might have a mind and will of thier own.Fuckheads like this asshole parent, want to IMPOSE thier will and make that kid OBEY even if it means traumatizing thier child and generating HATE are sick.. Fuck this asshole christian nazi monster and recognize his authoritarian sickness as the dangerous moral failure it is.
