6. I can't believe how ignorant people can be
Not only of the law, but of military history and procedures, specifically, what a goddamn US military grave marker looks like. If they showed a few more of those Arlington funerals on TV, they'd get the drift and not pull these hackneyed old John Wayne images out of their stupid asses when they are trying to convey a "support the troops" theme--it ain't Audie Murphy's military nowadays:

or

No freestanding crosses. A marble tombstone, or a bronze grave marker. Pick one. They haven't done crosses since the large overseas cemeteries of WW2 in Europe and elsewhere.

Here's one in the Catholic nation of Italy, at the Nettuno cemetery, where so many of our WW2 dead rest:

Nowadays, the religious designation on the military marker is engraved within a small circle at the top of the marker, as clearly seen in this photo of the grave of a Dutch submariner buried at Arlington National Cemetery:

City officials contend the cross is a generic symbol and was not selected for any religious meaning.

Why is it that they always claim Christian symbols are generic/secular? And why do they never select symbols of another religion or of atheism for their "secular/generic" display?
