Wal-Mart Announces Accelerated Rollout of $4 Generic Prescription Program in 14 States

$4 Generics to be Available in 14 Additional States Beginning Today - Three Months Earlier Than Projected

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT - News) announced that starting today it is rolling out its $4 generic prescription program in 14 additional states. With the announcement, the $4 generic prescription program will be now be available in an additional 1,264 stores throughout Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas and Vermont. The program was launched in 235 Florida pharmacies on October 6, 2006. Wal-Mart originally planned to introduce the program in as many states as possible beginning in 2007, but customer demand led the company to accelerate the launch.

2. If I were Wal-mart I'd want senors liking me right now too

labor laws, zoning ordnances, health care requirements, many reasons to have the group of Americans that vote the most like you.

6. And, they are doing away with employee profit-sharing bonuses
to offer this. A friend's son just quit Wal-mart as a result of this, so I know it to be fact.

I knew you could. Most of these states are swing states or potentially swing states. This is like taking people hostage. If you support some sort of govt health plan, you could lose your $4 medicine. Who needs to support govt health plans, when people can get $4 medicine. This is going to be a huge step back in the fight for universal health care, not to mention a huge talking point for the 'free marketers'. *sigh*
