Marijuana and Alzheimers: The real story is the BUSH COVER-UP.
Edited on Thu Oct-19-06 07:56 AM by Sensitivity
The real story of Marijuana and Alzheimers is the Bush Cover-Up scandal --
They are forcing millions of elderly to endure the ravagies of the disease,
(fully 50% succumb to some form of Alzheimers) when scientific reseach has indicated for sometime that it is preventable.

It is only in April of this year that Bush FDA officials announced that it had concluded that "no sound scientific studies supported medical use of marijuana for treatment in the United States, and no animal or human data supported the safety or efficacy of marijuana for general medical use."

This "Bush Cabal" report was, of course, totally false, and came after major studies in Spain and Israel had shown that Marijuana could prevent the onset of alzheimers. It also contradicted the 1999 review by experts at the Institute of Medicine (IOM), a division of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.

But a firestorm of protest from the scientific community had no effect.
The new Ohio State University study on marijuana and alzheimers is only one of many studies with these kinds of results, most of which have been supressed or under-reported.

It is only because there are now major U.S. institutions
reporting this finding that the MSM have given it some
attention -- and these researchers are banned from
using the real herb, only a "synthetic" version of the key ingredient.

I read an article a few months ago that there
are a lot of angry medical scientist who are being
barred from pursuing this research because of
threats to their jobs, other grants or future research funding.

This was after there was sufficient international reseach
showing benefits from smoking the herb for the
State of Oregon to ok medical use for alzheimers patients:

See: reports on two other major Alzheimers studies:

http://www.latimes.com/features/health/la-na-pot6oct06,1,1859254.story?coll=la-headlines-health

Note the unbelievable unreality that surrounds this research. When reporting results of the Ohio study:

But scientists still need to find a compound that reduces brain inflammation without triggering a high, said Wenk, whose research is funded by the federal government, which has long criminalized marijuana.
"You can't add a high onto a dementia. You're just going to make the person more impaired," he said.

The record appears to show that the Feds have been systematically
suppressing this line on research and reporting
of the the results, even as millions suffer from a preventable disease.
It hard to express my outrage as my own father died of Alzheimers just last year.

2. Legalize industrial hemp
and we could solve half of our energy problems in this country.

Legalize marijuana and we could solve half of our health problems too.

I lost my mother nearly two years ago and the "Long Goodbye" was really tough. When she knew that she had lost her marbles, she just prayed to die.

4. On Penn and Teller's, "Bullshit!"
For their war on drugs show, they featured a guy, who was a group of 17 people, who, in the 1970s, started receiving - and still receive - medical marijuana from the feds for his medical condition, and he can legally smoke it anywhere (they had shots of him smoking outside the capitol building and white house). He smokes two in the morning, drives to work while smoking another, etc. If he wasn't receiving the pot, he would have died a long time ago. He's a successful stock broker.

Pot may be boost to older brains

BY JORDAN LITE
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Stoners who spent the 1960s and '70s in a haze could find themselves surprisingly lucid in old age: the marijuana they smoked helps protect against Alzheimer's disease, a new study found.

Anti-inflammatory compounds in pot deflect the memory loss associated with the illness and could ultimately slow its progression, said psychology Prof. Gary Wenk of Ohio State University.

11. My Mom died a slow, horrible death 2 yrs ago from Alzheimers. These
fucking fundie whackos imposing their "morals" on the rest of us should be jailed immediately and never let out. Or, better yet, hide their bud so they too can suffer.

12. My Father sufferred slow decline for 3 years and then died from a Fall
which resulted from his disability -- and it now seems the all could have been
prevented by a gentle puff of the herb, but for the RW corrupt commercial interests
that have blocked research and stifled knowledge.
