1. If Being A Liberal, Or A Democrat Means...
sticking up for the little guy...sticking up for the worker...if it means standing up for civil rights and human dignity...if it means putting people before corporations, the less fortunate before the already-wealthy...then I am PROUD to be a liberal, and a Democrat, and anyone who doesn't like that...can kiss my rosy white ass!

2. My addition...To me a democrat is
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 09:38 PM by waiting for hope
is someone with concern and shows compassion for those disenfranchised, someone that may not always agree with how civil liberties are applied but understands that what is good for one is good for all, someone that understands history and is quick to realize it when it repeats, someone who is an independent thinker and recognizes the dignity that is all human life, someone that actually gives a crap about the environment and has the foresight to realize the future....and if this is liberal, proud of it too!

5. Only because the repukes
set out to make it a bad word..they had to put their dirty stamp on it cause it's such a beautiful word.

We could take it back anytime we want.

b. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.
c. Tending to give freely; generous: a liberal benefactor.
d. Generous in amount; ample: a liberal serving of potatoes.

not me. i said, it isnt a cuss word. you know, conservative vs liberal.

told my father i was a feminist and he had the same reaction. told him, a bunch of white men made the name feminist bad. you think i, a feminist, is going to let a bunch of white men define feminism for me..... i dont think so

14. to me, Conservative is an EXTREMELY negative word and
I tried to avoid the word completely when speaking. Even when I'm trying to
form a sentence which may require the word "conservative"...I'll think
twice to see if there's a word I could use in it's place. If not, then
I don't use the sentence. It's come to this for me.
I WOULD be ASHAMED to call myself Conservative, if I were a Conservative.

*gone to meditate...used the word "conservative" too much*

P.S. I'm so proud to be liberal, so very very proud of it.
