Sign from New York
I just thought you would all like to see one of the political signs that was put up in the 20th Congressional District. Kirsten Gillibrand (Democrat) is running against John Sweeney(Incumbent Republican). Not a good sign for him since people in his own party won't be voting for him!

This photo was taken by a local Gillibrand supporter (her website didn't say who). The sign is located in Saratoga, NY.

10. NYS GOP-ers NEVER provide the party. I challenged one, a judge to tell
and she blabbed that as a judge she was non-partisan. I amswered her: "Ashamed to be from the election stealing party? Can't say I blame you"

12. Send Money!
Gillibrand has gone from "not a prayer" to dead even. The tide is turning and last stretch advertising could put her over. Sweeney is a poster child for the kind of repukes we need to get out of office. From TPM:

New York 20th District Race
NY-20
Latest Polls
Race Pollster Released Candidates
NY-20 Grove (D) Oct 16 Sweeney (R) 42%, Gillibrand (D) 41%
NY-20 Global Str. (D) Sept 6 Sweeney (R) 47%, Gillibrand (D) 39%
NY-20 Siena Res. Aug 28 Sweeney (R) 53%, Gillibrand (D) 34%

NY-20: CQ: Sweeney Race Now A Toss-Up
By Greg Sargent | bio
This one surprises us a bit, because the last couple of polls showed sizeable leads for GOP Rep John Sweeney, but CQ has now downgraded its rating of the race between Sweeney and Dem Kirsten Gillibrand from "Leans Republican" to "Toss up":

Gillibrand, an attorney and first-time candidate for public office, on Tuesday sent an open letter to Sweeney requesting he release information regarding police incidents earlier in his career, including an arrest for driving while intoxicated...

It was another step in Gillibrand’s efforts to tie Sweeney to the “culture of corruption” tag with which Democrats have been trying to bedevil Republicans throughout the 2006 campaign. In fact, Gillibrand was an early entry, issuing accusations as early as last January that Sweeney was joining lobbyists on ski trips while ignoring the district’s problems.

The contest is front and center for the national Democratic Party, which sees the upstate 20th as an only mildly Republican-leaning district — President Bush took a modest 53 percent there in 2004 — that is ripe for a partisan takeover...The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee lists the race in its “Red to Blue” program — its roster of highly competitive races that the party hopes to switch from Republican red to Democratic blue on electoral maps — and has spent $110,000 on the race in recent weeks.

14. The best part - in recent years. the party hasn't even bothered
to run candidates in a lot of the upstate districts. Bravo for Howard Dean and the 50 state campaign.

15. We are gaining strength
from the ground up. In my county (Saratoga) it is the first time in over 30 years that we have had 2 canidates running for county office for the Democratic party. We got the Republicans running scared!! It is a great thing to see. They have run unopposed for so long, they don't know what to do!!

16. Woo hoo! I live in NY's 20th!
The sign ratio has been 10-1 up here, but I notice MORE Gillibrand signs now than ever before. Including a BIG one on the back of a truck sticking right out on the road leading to Lake George..

Cook now says this race is a toss up!

17. My boyfriend has been putting up the huge signs
like the one in the picture (except without the I'm a Republican line) all over the Southern Saratoga County. I think the Saratoga County office still has some. Give them a call if you are interested in putting one up.

ALBANY -- U.S. Rep. John Sweeney may have violated congressional ethics rules by failing to reveal who paid for a trip he took to a Pacific island with a lobbyist hired by convicted Washington influence peddler Jack Abramoff.
