Are anti-smokers also against "outing" homosexuals?

Do people who do not want cigarette smoke affecting their comfort level also desire homosexuals to stay "in the closet" in order to avoid any discomfort other people's sexual orientation may cause them?

I'm not suggesting that all anti-smokers are homophobic, just wondering if the attitudes on both issues may somehow be similar.

The reason I ask is that these issues appear to be the "hot-button" issues of the upcoming election. Could they be related in some way? What is the Karl Rove strategy concerning this?

8. There is actually a LTTE in my local paper today

that....now be sure you ar sitting in a STURDY chair....that equates homosexuality with increased incidences of being smokers.....I kid you not!

The LTTE section on line is for subscribers only and needs a password for access, so a link won't do any good, but, according to the writer, there is evidence of some gay men having 1,000 or more sexual partners during their lifetimes, increases in breast cancer, cervical cancer, anal cancer. Studies, she says, "Correlate positively with gays and lesbians' mental health disorders, being a victim of domestic violence, being a smoker, and being involved in alcohol and drug abuse....."

This is among the saddest letter I have read at this paper. All through it, she refers to the "homosexual lifestyle", "homosexual behavior", etc.....

All of this is to explain why she signed the "Protection of Marriage Petition", even though she does not, she says, advocate against the worthiness of gays in our society.

A while back I read an interesting tome about how the discrimination in US against male homosexuality lead to a dissipative lifestyle (smoking/drinking/unsafe sex/drugs) and much shorter lifespans. I found it interesting since it blamed unsafe choices of individuals on society's disapproval of their sexual orientation. I'm very big on taking responsibility for ones choices, but this made a case for societal pressure impacting choices a person makes. Not sure I could find it now, but it was thought provoking.
