Ceremonializing torture...
Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 10:49 AM by TwoSparkles
Very few bills are significant enough to warrant an elaborate ceremony in a room filled
with important dignitaries and media members. Most bills are signed quietly and without
cameras rolling.

However, every President choses to celebrate a handful of bills, by surrounding them with a
very-public, almost-celebratory atmosphere--like the one we saw today with Junior inking this
new torture law. Pomp and circumstance fills the air, when the bill is near and dear to
the President's personal agenda.

It's fascinating to note which bills a President hand selects to surround with so much
ceremony, formality and a sense of jubilation.

Today, we have a pResident who cultivates a party-like atmosphere around a bill
that allows him to torture without penalty and detain people indefinitely--without legal
counsel, charges pressed or a fair trial.

You sure can tell a lot about a person (and a President) by what bills they chose to celebrate
and ceremonialize, can't you?

A President must have priorities, right?
